following in mind:

Clearly identify the purpose of communication.


Access your target market.
Determine in with form your intended audience will be
exposed to your message.
Decide what you want the readers to do after reading your
message.

1 Focus: what is the big element that draws the readers attention to your
publication?

2 White Space: if a publication is too cluttered it may become confusing to the


reader. White space around central objects can enhance their appearance. Less
is more for most situations.

3 Legibility: how easy is it to read your text? Legibility refers to the ease at which
an individual characters can be recognized.

4 Graphic Elements: graphic elements can provide focus on a page and enhances
overall appearance of a publication. A picture is worth a thousand words.

5 Balance: Is there equal distributed of a design element on a page. Your page


design can be symmetrical or asymmetrical.
6 Proportion: how are the elements on a page sized in relation to one another?
Remember that readers tend to view the larger element as the most imported

in black and white (grayscale) or in colour.

8 Directional Flow: Directional flow is the pattern that leads the viewers eye down
the page. Usually readers eye tends to follow a Z pattern down the page from

9 Consistency or Unity: How consistent are you in style, font choice and design. A
professional publication is generally consistent in choice of design elements.

10 Color: Use colour to enhance your publication and attract viewers.
