Unit: Table Tennis Generic Level: Control-Proficiency

Equipment: 5 table tennis tables, 22 paddles, 10 table tennis balls, speaker, word wall

Focus of Lesson: Singles tournament

Student Performance Objectives (SPO):


By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

(P) Demonstrate the proper serve technique by making contact with both sides of the table when observed by peers and the teacher
throughout the lesson. (S1.H1.L1)

(C) Identify the five rules about singles table tennis as a class when asked by the teacher at the beginning of a lesson.. (S2.H1.L1)

(A) Demonstrate proper sportsmanship and positive behavior by listening to the safety instructions, rules, and routines throughout the
entire lesson. (S4.H1.L1)

Teacher Performance Objectives During the lesson the teacher will:


Explaining tournament play in short and concise language
Projecting my voice across the entire room/gym
Waiting for all students to be quiet and paying attention to give instructions
Use students first names and learn as many names as possible

Special Considerations What are the safety concerns? What is unique about the students in the class?
- The size of the room is small, make students aware of their backswing and follow through
- The teacher should be aware of students entering and exiting the room, students should ask permission before leaving
for any reason, including to get a drink

TIME SEQUENCE OF LESSON ORGANIZATION REFLECTIONS
Introduction:
5 min - The teacher will meet the students in the gym and take T
attendance using note cards.
- The teacher will remind the students that they will begin SSSSS
singles tournament play SSSSS

2 min Transition: the students will move from the gym into the Wrestling
Room where five table tennis tables should be prepared. All equipment
should be prepared in this room as well

Activity 1: Review Rules and Regulations
3 min The teacher will engage in an interactive learning activity, reviewing the SSSSSSSS
rules of singles table tennis. The teacher should ask the students what SSSSSSSS
they know about the rules, before using a direct form of teaching to
inform.

Activity 2: Word Wall


3 min The teacher will address and review the Word Wall with the students,
asking them if they have any questions about the terminology of Table
Tennis

Activity 3: Warm-up
Allow students to warm up serving and receiving the table tennis ball

Activity 4: Singles Tournament Play

A-period- Begin playing singles tournament, 3-4 students will be at each


table, students will rotate among others at the table. If 3 people, winner
will stay, if 4 people- rotate players evenly. Students will record their
wins and loses for every game they play
B- period-
C- Period - Begin playing singles tournament, 3-4 students will be at
