History/Mission

Mosaic in Delaware provides a life of possibilities for people with intellectual disabilities.

Mosaic was born on July 1, 2003, as Bethphage and Martin Luther Home Society join together

as one organization, and since then the goal has been to help people define their own happiness

and support them by empowering clients to pursue their goals ("Mosaic in Delaware | Mosaic -

Serving People with Intellectual Disabilities," 2017). Just being at Mosaic for one day I could

feel the warmth in the atmosphere and I am excited to be a part of a thriving organization.

Mosaic is a service provider chosen by more than 3,600 people, and more than 4,800 staff

members. Mosaic is the largest faith based provider in its field of service, located in 13 states,

and partners with programs in Great Britain, Romania and Tanzania ("Mosaic in Delaware |

Mosaic - Serving People with Intellectual Disabilities," 2017). Mosaics mission is Embracing

Gods call to serve in the world, Mosaic advocates for people with intellectual disabilities and

provides opportunities for them to enjoy life ("Mosaic in Delaware | Mosaic - Serving People

with Intellectual Disabilities," 2017). As a Result, Mosaic in Delaware will be known for their

limitless capacity to love the people they serve, for knowing and honoring their individual needs,

hopes and dreams and for listening to all of its stakeholders and incorporating their input in to

the organizational goals, plans and services and for the tireless pursuit of perfection in all aspects

of the operation.

My Role

My position at Mosaic is a Public Relations Intern. During my internship opportunity I will:

interview constituents of Mosaic (Staff, volunteers, interns and partners), compose marketing

pieces, assist with recruiting, interviewing, training and evaluating volunteers, assist with

sponsorship opportunities and/or grant writing , and identify and schedule speaking engagements

with local churches and civic organization. (Angela McCloskey, personal conversation).

Therefore, I am eager to see what the next 12 weeks at Mosaic will have in store for me and what

I can bring to the organization.
