Technical Communications

MEMORANDUM

To: Mr. Malesh

From: Wassim Katbey, Kayla Smith, Patrick Wetzel, Kayla Hutchison, Jacob Hawlik
Date: March 26, 2017

Subject: Project Arrangements and Task Allocation

We are writing to assert our groups strategy in completing the two-component report. By
choosing either to work with Rx Professionals or FIRST in Michigan, we can organize a proposal
and empirical research report through parallel and reciprocal coordination strategies.

Primary Option: Rx Professionals

Rx Professionals, a pharmacy in Garden City, requires efficient performance among pharmacy
technicians, whom lag in matching prescriptions with their corresponding drugs. Confusion
arises among the following:

Shelves hold containers in alphabetical order by their chemical names, contrary to their printed
brand names (E.g. Tylenol is in the A-B section).

Due to congestion, expired medication hide within the shelves.

Our solution incorporates a database, where each containers chemical and brand name, shelf
location, and expiration date are stored. Research will primarily stem from technician
performance, while research on industry practices, shelves, and expiration dates will be
conducted online.

Although Rx Professionals is our primary recipient, any pharmacy can utilize our projected
research. Furthermore, companies that produce medication shelves can take note of it.

Secondary Option: FIRST in Michigan*

FIRST is an organization that encourages participation in STEM fields through the construction
and competition of robots by K-12 students.

However, the Michigan branch (First in Michigan) blocks the affordable First Tech Challenge
(FTC) program for middle and high schoolers. The only alternative is FIRSTs more expensive
program, First Robotics Competition, where performance results are low.

Our solution entails the conversion of low income teams (with no workshop) into FTC teams.
This creates an economically viable Michigan branch. Our report will be written primarily to
FIRST in Michigan, however, the message may extend to low income families interested in
STEM.

Assignment Distribution
All members will work simultaneously on written tasks through Google Drive. Additionally,
research and sources can be dropped into an individual document on the collaborative folder.
Wassim, the head of the project, will condense and polish all written materials.

*Our secondary option is newly available. Therefore, research options are to be determined.
To alleviate the workload among individual members, we will utilize task assignments. Our
coordination strategies include:

Parallel: Headings are assigned to individual members by Wassim (for written assignments).

Reciprocal: Research will be completed simultaneously and/or through conference calls, where
data will be distributed. Depending on our choice of company, most research will be gathered by
Wassim or Patrick.

Sequential Production: Timetable

Progress on the Two-Component Report begins with our commitment to either company, of
which our proposal and research are centered upon. The progress report will detail our
advancements on the research conducted, written proposal, and overall member output.

The completed project integrates the proposal and empirical research report. Figure 1
