Classroom Management Plan

Clara Schild

The following reflects my ideals and beliefs regarding students behavior in the
classroom. It includes both student and parent expectations for behavior. From
studying theorist and several experiences in the classroom, I have developed a
person philosophy about how students learn and behave. I believe that students
learn by actively doing and by interacting with others.

I believe that students are naturally curious and eager to learn, play, and respect
others. Although there are several biological aspects to behavior, I believe that the
majority of a students behavior is shaped by their role models, environment, and
peers.

It is my job as a teacher to create the best possible environment for students to

learn. This includes having an open, positive, fun, and respectful classroom.

There are several strategies that assist in creating this environment.

Examples:

1. A mixture of individual, whole group and small group instruction to help

diversify the students learning and provide an adequate environment for all
learners.
2. Clear rules that are created with student involvement and input and practiced
regularly.
3. A safe environment based on respect, encouragement and acceptance of all
students.
4. Hands on, fun, and engaging activitys that are well explained and prepared.

Sample rules:

1. Be respectful to others
2. Follow building rules
3. Turn in assignments in time
4. Be on time
5. Listen when others when they are talking

Students will be a part of creating the classroom rules and procedures. When a rule
is broken, the student will have a conversation about their behavior, the
consequence, and future behavior.

The student and the teacher will:

- Identify the problem

- Explain why the problem occurred
- Discuss consequences and what can be done to prevent the problem from
happening again
- Discuss why the rule is in place and why it needs to be respected

If a students is engaging in an undesirable behavior, I will follow the following steps

for giving a punishment.

- Make the student aware you see the problem

- Stand near the student
- Remind them of the rule
- Take away a privilege, like free time or recess
- Contact the parent

To keep students motivated and behaved there will be a reward system for good
behavior and good work.

Along with our classroom rules, my class will follow the building and district rules.
Students are responsible for knowing and following these rules. The teacher is
responsible for teaching the rules and enforcing them.

Along with student involvement in the classroom, the parents/guardians will be

involved. Behaviors start at home so our rules will be sent home and reviewed with
parents. Parents will also be asked to be involved in daily classroom activities like
projects, games, field trips, and more. If a undesired behavior occurs, the parent will
be notified and asked to review the rules with their students. The parent will also be
notified when good behavior or work is done.
