1) This article explains the dangers and effects of opioid based drug use. The article

goes in detail about what opioids including heroin will do to your body. This article

shows facts and statistics about drug use and it also mentions the issue of medical

patients beginning to abuse opioid based pain medications after their prescription

ends. The National Institute for Drug Abuse also explains how the prescriptions of

opioid based pain killers can lead to patients picking up heroin.


2) This article will prove my point that the prescription of pain medications to teens and

young adults can lead to addiction and heroin use over time. This article will

contribute facts and statistics that will help me in my inquiry to find a way to rid the

young adult population of heroin addiction.


3) This source is credible because it comes from a Governmental educational source.

The site was also updated within a week of me accessing the information providing it

is up to date and reliable information.

The article explains in detail what could lead to a person becoming dependent on

a drug, how it leads them, and why. The article includes background, mental, and

physical risk factors that could end up in addiction. The purpose of this article is

to inform the public about the dangers of addiction and to possibly warn people

with these risk factors away from further risk.


2. This article relates to my inquiry because it provides valuable information on risk

factors of drug addiction. With known risk factors, prevention of drug addiction

can be made much easier. This article includes great facts and statistics that can

be used in my inquiry to help lead toward a solution to my inquiry question.


3. This source is written by an author who has a major in Journalism, she sites many

reputable people who have researched the topic of drug addiction in depth. The

site that the article was retrieved from is a medical information site with great

reviews. The author of this article is very well known for her work, some of her

work has even been featured on Newsweek, a very credible media source.

to further drug use and addiction.


2. This article is important in my inquiry because it backs up my theory that many

young patients who are prescribed opiate based pain medications become

dependent on the mind altering dangerous chemicals in the drugs. The article also

mentions efforts that can be taken to limit the distribution of prescriptions and

how we can stop the addiction epidemic which will be very valuable information

while conducting my inquiry.

written by Dr. Wilson M. Compton M.D. Doctor Compton is the Deputy Director

of the National Institute on Drug Abuse. He is very well regarded for his medical

accomplishments as well as studies on Drug addiction and dependency. This

article Is very credible because of the authors high credibility and regards.

1. This article is a study conducted by the Mayo Clinic to explore the growing issues

of drug abuse among young adults and teens. The article includes risk factors of

becoming an addict, consequences of drug abuse, signs of a person who may be

using substances, and what can be done to stop drug addiction before it gets too

late. It also has a section that is specifically written for parents of teens or young

adults who may be abusing drugs or alcohol that mentions how to be in better

control of their children to assure their safety.


2. This article will be beneficial in my inquiry because it backs up my points and

overall theory of how to control the growing drug addiction epidemic. The

information that this article gives to parents of drug abusing teens will be good for

me to use as a point where parents can be considered a first line of defense against

drug abuse.
3. This article was retrieved from a highly-recognized source, the Mayo Clinic, and

it is up to date and reliable information. Most of the information in this article has

been stated in other articles credible authors and sources.

The article explains how and when people with addictions should begin treatment.

This source opens a new discussion about why not everyone gets addicted to

drugs and alcohol, the article brings up medical facts and brain studies.
2. This source will back up my inquiry by providing a good medical background of

how to help solve the issue with drug addiction. I believe this article is beneficial

in the sense that it will give me a better understanding of what drugs do in the

brain and possibly how that can be combatted.


3. This source is a study conducted by the Harvard Mental Health Letter. Being that

Harvard Is one of the most prestigious schools in the USA I believe this is a

credible source with great information
