Brief Overview:
In this lesson, students will select a former President of the United States to research and produce a short video using the
free online tool, Animoto. Students will be asked to answer a short series of questions in their video developed by the
classroom teacher. Some of the information that will need to be included is the name of the president, the time of their
presidency, and other important dates and key accomplishments. Students will be expected to conduct their own research
using reliable resources and to cite them properly. The videos created will be shared with the class and evaluated for the
accuracy of the information covered and how it is organized.

Learning Target(s):

LT1: 7th Grade students will be able to locate at least three online resources on a specific U.S. President and verify the
reliability of the resource using the 5 Ws of web-site evaluation.

LT2: Students will create a 3-4 minute video using Animoto to present the information they have gathered in a manner that
is well organized and easy for others to understand.

LT3: Students will properly cite the three resources using the MLA style.

generating additional related, focused questions for further research and investigation.
