Session :- 2014-15
Year :- 4th Year (8th SEM)

TERMINOLOGY-

1) DECIBLE
2) ECHO
3) FREQUENCY
4) INTENSITY
5) LOUDNESS
6) PITCH
7) P.A. SYSTEM (PUBLIC ADDRESS SYSTEM)
8) REVERBERATION
9) REVERBERATION TIME

1. DECIBLE: - Sound level as major on a sound level mt. Is called decibel.

2. Echo: - A disting and clearly discernible reflected sound received at a point with in the encloser
when any sound enamets from any part of that encloser.

3. Frequency: - Frequency is the no. Of vibration per seconds.

4. Intensity: - Intensity at a point is the average rate at which sound energy is transmitted through
a unit area around the point and perpendicular to the direction of propagation of sound.

5. Loudness: - Is the sensation produced in the human ear and it depends on the intensity of sound
and also its frequency.

6. Pitch: - Pitch is the frequency, sensation perceived by human ear. Pitch is defined as that aspect
of auditory sensation in terms of which sound may be arrange on a scale standing from low to
high as on a musical scale.

7. P.A. SYSTEM: - the complete chain of sound equipment compressing essentially of

microphone, amplifiers and loudspeakers required reinforcing the sound enamating from a
source in order to provide adequate dourness for comfortable hearing by audience.

8. REVERBERATION: - persistence of sound in an encloser (partially or completely enclosed)

after the sources of sound has stopped.

9. REVERBERATION TIME: - The time taken by the reverberation sound to decay to one million
of the sound intensity level existing at the source of sound is stopped.

SEMI CONTINUOUS CONSTRUCTION

1. Bording timber joists with plaster board ceiling with skim cost plaster. 30-35

2. Boarding of timber joists with matel lath and plaster ceiling. 35-40

3. Boarding of timber joists with matel lath and plaster ceiling.plugging on trays at 50 kg/m,
the pugging to be air tight (ex. Sand and mortar) 40-45

4. Boarding of timber joists with matel lath and plaster ceiling.flooting floor boarding on
battens on resilient quilt. 55

5. Boarding of timber joists with matel lath and plaster ceiling.plugging on trays at 50 kg/m,
the pugging to be air tight (ex. Sand and mortar) but with floor replaced by boarding on
cross battens on resilient quilt lead over joists. 55

6. Timber stud partition with matel and plaster both sides. 55

7. Double partition of 7.5 cm. Hollow clay block, plastered externally, 5 cm. Cavity with strip
mettallites. 40-45

8. Double partition of 7.5 cm. Hollow clay block, plastered externally, 5 cm. Cavity, with
strip mettallites.but with wire ties. 50-55

9. Cup-boards used as partitions. 25-35

DISCONTINUOS CONSTRUCTION
1. Two level of 6 cm. Concrete, plastered and Saperated by a 5 cm. Air space associated with
Suspected ceiling and floring floors.
A. Mesured across the walls 50-60
B. Mesured through the floors 65-75

2. Two level of 6 cm. Concrete, plastered and Saperated by a 5 cm. Air space associated with
suspected ceiling and floring floors.but with the third leaf or 5 cm. Concrete between the two
discontinuos shells, each air space 5 cm.
Mesured across the walls or through the floors 65-75
3. Two level of 6 cm. Concrete, plastered and Saperated by a 5 cm. Air space associated with
suspected ceiling and floring floors.but with walls of 10 cm. Brick, plastered.
a. Measured across the walls 60-70
b. Measured through the floors 65-75

4. The values given for these three are for without walls ties wirs ties effect a slide reduction
(about 5 db.) And strip matel tie a concideration reduction in three values.
note: - variations in sound insulation due to the use of different plasters do not appear to
be signification.
