Conclusion:
After looking at all of the data collected from our various survey questions, a few things
became very clear and apparent. The most common demographic of people who took the
survey was freshman girls, according to our data. The majority of the people who took

the survey had also played a sport/ had a job. With that information, it was very clear that
yes, playing a sport/working a job does negatively affect students GPAs. According to
our data and graphs, the average GPA of students who do play sports/have a job is 3.17.
The GPA of students who do not work a job/play a sport is 3.29. Therefore, it is evident
that playing a sport/having a job negatively affects students GPAs seeing as how doing
so lessens students GPAs on average by .12. The students who did in fact played a
sport/working a job, spent an average of 14 hours on it per week. The average time
students reported they spend doing homework, regardless if they have a job/play a sport
or not, is ten hours. Adding those up, that does not leave a lot of time for the students
with jobs/after school sports to spend doing work and going to class. This could be why
their GPA is lessened.
