Abstract

Success for Human Resurce Management:

A Recommendation Report

Prepared by: Angela Higgins, Arjune Garcia, Musaad Alfaleh

Undergraduate Student at Washington State University

On March 17, 2017, Angela H., Arjune G., Musaad A., proposed a project for Human Resource
Management (HRM) majors who may be lost on their track for their academic futures. Currently,
with personal experience & knowledge, it is apparent that there is a lack of resources, which
leaves many with no sense of direction. Schooling is a great investment but can impose very
costly consequences if not applied correctly. Students need to be informed of everything that
they need to know and given resources so that they are reassured that HRM is the perfect fit for
them. In efforts to reduce such uncertainty & increase awareness of HRM, we are going to create
an informative website/blog type of product through WordPress. Due to the increasing
importance & relevance technology has shown today, such product would be accessed at ease &
will reach out to an even wider audience. Our product will serve as an informational blog &
forum for HRM students or those who are considering this major. It will obtain the most relevant,
up-to-date, & concise information to eliminate any confusion. Since it will be online, typing in
key words relevant to such topic will bring up our website as results. Since we provide rich
informative resources for HRM students, it will definitely answer their questions/concerns, guide
them through their education, and help them to achieve success in their future academic careers.
All in all, by creating a source for HRM students who are unsure or lack confidence in their path
towards success, we can create better-fit students (& cougs) who can contribute to society. On
March 30, 2017, we successfully launched the website called Success for Human resource
which can be found at appendix.

Executive Summary

The following memo contains the results of the research regarding Human Resource
Management majors. A website was created in order to provide access to these resources for
people who are interested. The research found that there were not enough available resources for
people who are pursuing this unusual major. The following memo includes a description of the
circumstances, the activities and tasks that were accomplished in order to find this information
and a summary of the conclusions and results.

Introduction

Human Resources Management is an uncommon major in the United States. However, human
resources is a majorly important field where there is great demand for work. Human Resources
management is a very crucial aspect of any large firm, because managing the employment of the
people in the firm is very important.

Human Resources Management involves diverse technical and legal knowledge that requires
special training. For this reason, universities have been increasingly offering this field as a major
for their students. Unfortunately, because this is in many ways a new and underdeveloped field in
the educational area, people who pursue this major often feel unsupported.

Providing additional, detailed information for these majors is therefore a major goal. Human
Resources professionals need to be a major concern for the educational system in the United
States if the country is to remain competitive. An online resource is very useful for providing this
information to people pursuing Human Resource Management majors. This is because people
from any university can access this information as long as they are online.

Because most universities do not devote large amounts of resources to this major, an online
resource will relieve the burden from the universities and allow them to manage their resources
more effectively. Human Resources management will likely become an increasingly relevant
major and there will be additional demand for it as more students begin pursuing this major. The
following memo will detail the methods put into place for creating an interactive website for
these students to use to improve. themselves and their understanding of the crucial field of
Human Resource Management.
Research Methods

Due to the increasing importance and relevance technology has shown today, it has been
concluded that an informational website would be most optimal as it could be accessed at ease
and reach out to an even wider audience. Using Weebly, we have created an educational platform
to allow viewers who are in or are interested in human resource management access to a variety
of useful articles, resources, and even a forum to ask any questions or concerns they may have.

To create the website, we broke the project into eight tasks:

1. Create a Weebly Account
2. Create a Domain/Site Name
3. Create a Title/Home Page
4. Post a Description of Site
5. Build New Tabs for Resources, Forum, & Contact
6. Add Articles for Resources Tab
7. Create a Discussion Forum Box
8. Create a Contact Box

Task 1: Create a Weebly Account

We created a weebly account and shared the necessary login information to each team member
so that he/she could have access to the site.

Task 2: Create a Domain/Site Name

In order to reach our audience, creating a short, yet precise domain name was imperative. We
concluded that Success for Human Resources was the most optimal title for our site.

Task 3: Create a Title/Home Page

In efforts to lock and engage our viewers, we created a very neat and appealing header for the
home page.

Task 4: Post a Description of Site

Following the header on the home page is the description of what this site is and what it hopes to
achieve, which is more awareness and resources for human resource management majors.

Task 5: Build New Tabs for Resources, Forum, & Contact

We organized the site more as we created separate tabs for home, resources, forum, and contact.
By doing so, viewers can navigate through the site at ease.

Task 6: Add Articles for Resources Tab

In this task, each member was responsible for researching and finding articles they believed held
pertinent information regarding education, seminars, and scholarships for human resource
management majors. Once we gathered our sources, we created customized links for each article.

Task 7: Create a Discussion Forum Box

To encourage discussion with our viewers, we created a forum where questions and responses
will immediately post publicly. However, since Weebly does not carry the option of forums
anymore, we have to download a forum app, which we incorporated into the site.

Task 8: Create a Contact Box

The contact box was created and formatted to allow viewers who may not be as comfortable in
participating/engaging in a public forum to contact us personally for any questions or concerns
they may have.

Results

By creating a public website on Weebly, we have created a very informative platform that can be
easily accessed for human resource management (HRM) majors. Since we cannot physically
reach out to every HRM student, this form was definitely the most effective since it can always
be accessed as it is public and on the internet. Although it cannot tell us exactly who views our
website, our count for page views increases every day. After having this website up for only 4
days, we have reached over 100 visits to our site. The link to our website can be found in the
appendix.

Conclusion

All in consideration, this product has allowed us to achieve our objective in creating an
informative platform for human resource management majors. With technology gaining
importance as majority of the student population has access to the internet, our website was
proven to be the most optimal choice as our repurposing product. By splitting up the work into
eight tasks amongst the team members, we were able to create a very quality Weebly site for our
viewers. Overall, with an abundance of rich, useful information, we have successfully created a
website to allow those in the field of human resource management access to pertinent articles,
discussion forum, and resources.

Recommendation
As we work on this project, we realized how important to be informed and get support experts
such as academic counselors at university. We recommend that Washington State University
reassures that there is a Human Resource Management Major and re-educate/ train the
counselors in order to reduce any confusion among students. We also recommend that students
fully utilize our website that contains everything they need to know and can benefit from a lot.
