LITERATURE REVIEW

Food can be seen from at least three different perspective. One is perspective of
Indian constitution especially, the directive principles of state policy, Secondly , we
can refer to UDHR and thirdly is right to food as moral and social right. IN ARTICLE
DEMOCRACY AND RIGHT TO FOOD BY JEAN DREZE , basically concentrate on first
approach. According to this article right to food forms one of basic economic and
social rights which are essential to achieve economic democracy in India. It involves
serious difficulties in making right to food justicable, new intervention are possible
in at least three ways- through legal action, through democratic practice and
through changing perception. Right to food to be linked to other economic and
social rights relating to education, health, work which together hold promise of
radical change in public priorities and democratic politics.

security means not only availability of food for direct consumption but has other
implication as well as. Availability of food grain will have little relevant if people do
not possess purchasing power to buy them for consumption .it is responsibility of
government , firstly means and ways by which food is available within the country
and secondly, people have means to buy it.

availability of food for direct consumption but also peoples purchasing power to buy
them for the consumption it may be added here that even ability to buy food will
not guarantee food security when there is an effective delivery. Therefore it is
responsibility of government to devise ways and means by which food is available
within country and people have means to buy it. The concept of food security also
implies implementing policies for supplementing food and nutritional requirements
for some vulnerable group like old and infirm people, expectant mothers and young
children. Food, such as is not enough, it requires the nutritional values, which is
really need for keeping body n proper health.
