TheAdvocacyProgramwillworkforshorttermremediesandlongtermchange
byempoweringwomenandgirlstobestrongleadersanddecisionmakerswithin
theircommunities.TheProgramwillpromotethehumanrightsofwomenand
childrenintheregion,implementingandinnovatingstrategiesthatstrengthenthe
roleofwomeninindigenouscommunities.
TheCenterforIndigenousRights(CEDIAC),OneEqualHeartspartnerin
Chiapas,hasover20yearsofexperienceinpromotinganddefendingthehuman
rightsofindigenousindividualsandcommunities.Since1992,CEDIAChas
providedongoingadvocacyandmonitoringofcasesofhumanrightsviolations
againstindividualsintheregion,andprovidedspecializedtrainingfortraditional
TseltalmediatorsthatcombinesskillbuildingforadvocacyinboththeMexican
stateandtraditionalTseltaljuridicalsystems.TheAdvocacyProgramfor
IndigenousWomenandChildrenisbuildingonthisstrongfoundationbyengaging
ateamofhumanrightspromotersandtraditionalmediatorstoassessthescopeof
theproblemofviolenceanddevelopstrategiesforinterventionandcommunity
education.
