Assignment B
Case Detail :
Project management, then, is the application of knowledge, skills and techniques
to execute projects effectively and efficiently. It s a strategic competency for
organizations, enabling them to tie project results to business goals and thus,
better compete in their markets.Project management is the discipline of planning
, organizing, motivating, and controlling resources to achieve specific goals. A
project is a temporary endeavor with a defined beginning and end (usually time-
constrained, and often constrained by funding or deliverables),undertaken to mee
t unique goals and objectives, typically to bring about beneficial change or add
ed value. The temporary nature of projects stands in contrast with business as u
sual (or operations),which are repetitive, permanent, or semi-permanent function
al activities to produce products or services. In practice, the management of th
ese two systems is often quite different, and as such requires the development o
f distinct technical skills and management strategies.
The primary challenge of project management is to achieve all of the project goa
ls and objectives while honoring the preconceived constraints. The primary const
raints are scope, time, quality and budget. The secondary and more ambitious chall
enge is to optimize the allocation of necessary inputs and integrate them to mee
t pre-defined objectives. But project management brings a unique focus shaped by
the goals, resources and schedule of each project. The value of that focus is pr
oved by the rapid, worldwide growth of project management
