Lesson Title: Tree Houses (from form to concept)

Subject: 3D
Content Area: Visual Arts
Time to Complete: 10-14- 90 minute class periods, 2 weeks

Task Description: The student will be introduced to treehouse design along with images and videos of other
architects work. Day 1: TSW learn how to sketch out the treehouse designs, choose their groups, assign jobs,
and sign contract. Day 2: TSW learn how to begin building their treehouses and collect materials needed.
TSW begin researching and developing ideas for their final product. Day 3: TSW finalize their ideas with their
group and construction techniques will be taught. Day 3-14: CREATE! The final assignment is to create an
interesting treehouse design using many types of materials. Their design must adhere to the companys policies
on use of materials.
Goals

Aesthetic Perception/Creative Expression. Students will demonstrate knowledge of the elements and
principles of design and show an aesthetic awareness of the visual and tactile qualities in the environment that
are found in works of art.

Materials, Tools, and Equipment


Wood, foam core, hot glue, dowels, tree limbs, nails, paint, leaves, Spanish moss, string, popsicle sticks,
any other items students would like to add onto their tree houses to make them more interesting.
