notes
traditional
One of the powerful confirmations of the physical, bodily
resurrection of Jesus Christ is that He came into contact
with many, many people during the forty days following
that glorious Sunday. Notice He did not interact with just
the twelve disciples. The Scriptures tell us that one time
He appeared to more than 500 people. Paul went on to
write that most of those people were still alive when he
wrote the I Corinthians letter. There were plenty of people
to refute what Paul said if it were not the truth. Can you
imagine being one of the people present at that time and
seeing a man who you knew was killed several weeks
ago and then seeing Him talking, eating, and having
fellowship with different people, including you? The
reality of the resurrection is part of the reason the early
church celebrated Easter for fifty days. In no way was it a
one day event! The power and wonder of that Great Day
continues this morning which is why we continue to sing
Easter hymns and rejoice in our living Lord. Though at
present we do not physically see Him, our God is in our
midst and Jesus leads our worship this morning. Rejoice!
He is risen, He is risen indeed! Alleluia! - Dr. Dan Sharp
