Describe how you would use the Online Project/Collaboration Site/Publishing
Opportunity in your classroom: I would want my students to track the monarch butterflies
because they are one of the animals on the website that come through Georgia and I know most
of my students will have seen them before.
What technologies would be required to implement this proposed learning activity in a
classroom? Students will need the computers in the classrooms and have the opportunity to use
mobile devices from home or in the classroom through the app.
Describe how the following features are addressed in this learning experience (note: all of
them may not be addressed in the project, but most should be if you are reaching a high
LoTi Level.):
a. Collaboration with peers, near-peers, mentors outside their classroom and often
beyond their school: Students will be able to discuss and publish their findings
with students and mentors safely through the app. The can talk about the
monarchs and compare and contrast the times of year and weather conditions in
which they visit various regions.
b. Student-centered learning and knowledge creation (collecting original data and or
producing original products as a result of engaging in the project): Students get to
be in charge of their own learning. They are the mediators of their online
collaboration. The students can create an artic=fact to send to their peer/mentor
from outside of the classroom.
c. Higher-order thinking: Students are covering all levels of Bloom's Taxonomy and
they are reaching the top level of LoTi.
d. Students publishing their original work to others who will use/care about their
product: They are able to publish their tracking of the monarch butterflies to their
peers/mentors.

How could you implement this proposed learning experience and still comply with your
districts Internet Safety and Student Privacy policies? I would create the full lesson plan and
show it to my principal. From there, I would create permission forms to send home with my
students and make sure it includes a detailed over view of what the project s and how I plan to
keep the students anonymity safe. With those permission forms the students will get to
participate in the activity. If I do not get the permission from the parents, I will come up with an
alternative project so the students can still meet the standards.
