By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to :
(a)recognize and articulate initial, medial and the final sounds in single syllable

Activities :
1. Pupils sing a song ( I Love My Family).
2. Teacher shows sound cards and pupils say the sounds of the graphemes
shown (/s/, /ae/, /t/, /p/, /d/, /i/, /o/ and /g/).
3. Teacher shows word cards and picture cards and pupils respond.
4. Pupils segmenting the words (dog, got, pot, mop, on, pond, dig, top, tag).
5. In group of 10, the pupils compete to form the words given in the word list
(Word Race TB page 39).
6. The pupils take turns to form the words told by the teacher.
7. The pupils say the phonemes and the words (blending).
8. Award points to the group that finishes first.
9. The winner will be given the prize.
10. Pupils refer to the textbook page 40 & 41 (A Magic Map).
11. Teacher drills the key words : father, mother, brother, sister (shows word
cards and picture cards).
12. Teacher reads the story line by line and followed by the pupils.
13. Pupils read the story as a class, group and individual.
14. Pupils do the exercises in their activity book page 43 with guidance.

6. Pupils write the correct answer (family members) in their activity book
page 39.
7. Pupils solve the puzzle in their activity book page 40 with guidance.
Teacher reminds the pupils about the punctuation (capital letter and full
stop).
8. Pupils do the word maze in their activity book page 41 with guidance.
9. Pupils read and write the correct answer based on the pictures given
(AB page 42).
10. Pupils draw and colour their family members (AB page 44).
