Hows it going Jason? Thanks for doing the interview. Great to have you!
Lets rst talk about your sound. It really is one of a kind a techy mix of
big-room and progressive with memorable melodic elements. Who and
what are your inuences?
Wow, thank you so much! I would have to say my inuences derive from
anywhere between Above & Beyond, and Fedde le Grand, to Sigur Ros and
Ulrich Schnauss. I get inspiration from anything that hits a chord with me,
melodically. It doesnt have to be EDM-based, but I do like creating
productions that work for the danceoor.
What advice would you give to people wanting to develop their own
unique sound?
My advice would be to work hard, learn the craft of producing, and try out
dierent styles to see what works best for you. Dont worry too much about
the technical part (that will come in time), focus more on creativity. Listen to
music that inspires you, and recreate it in your own way. Developing your own
unique style comes from staying true to yourself.
You frequently release bootleg packs. Theyre a great promotion tool, but
is there anything that youve learnt specically from producing bootlegs?
Ive learned quite a lot from making bootlegs, actually. By blending 2 dierent
tracks together, you have to be aware of the energy they both have, and if the
drop of one track can really work for the build of the other. The bootlegs I
make today are far better (in my opinion) than the ones I made just a couple
years ago, and it directly correlates to the production value I had at that time. I
think its a strong indication of where you are as a producer.
Ableton is the greatest. Something that most people dont realize is that you
can save your entire channel strips into custom folders! For example, if you
make a synth preset in Sylenth, throw on an EQ, compressor, and Saturator,
and you REALLY like how it turned out you can simply group the entire
channel, and save it into your Instrument Folder. Youll never have to manually
create these again, although its always good to tweak them as you learn more!

We have quite a few beginner producers read this blog. Whats one thing
you wish someone had told you at the start?
Stay true to yourself! Your best work will come out when you do just that.
If you could only use two plugins for the rest of your life, what would they
be?
Finally, if you had to listen to ONE artist on repeat for 24 hours, who
would it be?
Phish! Im a big phish fan. I saw them at Outside Lands (San Francisco) a
couple years ago, and theres nothing like jamming out to a 20 minute song! I
think I would actually enjoy the 24 hours!
