Slam Poem-Transpersonal Psychology

Psychology and spirituality.

One wouldn't think that these two topics share similarities.
But It wasn't until the 1960s a sub-field would emerge from Modern Psychology in which these
topics would mesh together.
Transpersonal psychology

Transpersonal.
Meaning experiences and worldviews that extend beyond the personal level of the psyche and
beyond the tedious material world

Transpersonal.
Experiences in which the sense of identity or self extends beyond the individual to encompass
wider aspects of humankind, life, psyche, or the cosmos

Is it important to study spirituality?

To study the transcendental aspects of the human experience?
The transcendental aspects of the human condition.
What makes us as people what to seek something higher?
To believe in a higher realm?
To believe in a higher sense of self?
To explore higher states of consciousness?

We all seek something higher just in different ways whether it's through music, movies,
communication, or so on.
Spirituality is what helps us come to terms with who we are as people.
It's what helps strengthen our character to overcome hardships that we face day to day.
To escape the mundane.

Spirituality isn't a religion even though faith does play into both topics.
Religion is an institution established by mankind.
Whereas Spirituality is born and developed within a person.
There are many religions, in fact hundreds.
There is only one type of spirituality.
Religion is for those who want to continue rituals and formality.
Spirituality is for those who want to reach their full potential without dogmas.
Religion is for those who require guidance from others.
Spirituality is for those that lend ears to their inner voice.
Religion is not God.
Spirituality is infinite consciousness and all that is, which is God.

Spirituality extends to all facets of a person's life.

Spirituality is something that is found deep within oneself.
It is what helps us love.
It is what helps us except and relate to the world and people around us.
It doesn't have to be found in the church or in others.
It starts with you.

So, is it important to study spirituality?

To study the transcendental aspects of the human experience?
The transcendental aspects of the human condition.
What makes us as people what to seek something higher?
To believe in a higher realm?
To believe in a higher sense of self?

Seeking something beyond is part of the human experience.
It's part of our development whether we are aware of it or not.
