Choir Budget
For the 2016-2017 school year, the school gave me, the choir director, a total amount of

$2,500 to use towards my high school choral program. I have a great list of things that will be

needed to benefit and improve my developing choral program. The first thing that I will need to

purchase is music for the upcoming school year. I have set aside $50 to cover my music expenses

for the school year for all four of my choirs. I have only set aside $50, because I will pull pieces

from the choirs music library first and then order additional pieces that I feel will add to each

ensembles performance. I will also be spending $699.99 on a Williams Overture 88 key Digital

Piano. This piano will be used for practices and performances that the choir participates in on

campus. I am also investing in a $699.99 Portable PA System along with two microphone stands

for $45.90 that will be used for the choirs events that call for better amplification of the choir. I

will also use choir money to pay for 3-tier risers for the choir performances, a directors stand

and podium which will cost $2,247.99. I will also purchase concert attire for every student,

which will cost $5,840.00. I will also buy office supplies, such as: printer paper, college ruled

notebook paper, pencils, binders for each student, a stapler with additional staples, and an all in

one color printer/ copier for $312.28. Lastly, I will need to purchase an upgrade for the Sibelius

music software program that may be used by students and the choral director to write music or

make corrections to music. This upgrade will cost $89.00 per year.

In order to pay for the expenses mentioned in the previous paragraph, both the students

and choral director must work hard to fundraise. The income that is estimated to come from the
following fundraisers will be based off of the fact that each member of the four ensembles (85

students in total) will participate. First, the students and choral director will host at least four car

wash fundraisers throughout the 2016-2017 school year. The amount of times that this fundraiser

is done can be increased based off of the level of participation of students and their parents, as

well as the amount of appropriate or good weather days. This fundraiser is estimated to bring in

at least $400 for the whole year if each car wash is $5.00. The next fundraiser will be a chocolate

bar fundraiser. Each student will get a box of 60 assorted $1.00 chocolate bars. Each box retails

for $36.00 according to the Worlds Finest Company. Considering that the choir will only get

half of the profit made from selling chocolate bars, the choir can still make a profit of $1,530.00

with maximum participation from each student selling at least one box. This profit can also

increase if multiple students sell more than one full box of chocolate bars. The next fundraiser

that the choir can participate in is a Valentines Day Sing-a-Grams fundraiser where the choir

charges $2.00 per request. If every student sells at least one sing-a-gram, the choir can raise at

least $170.00. Lastly, the choir can sell raffle tickets for $2.00 per ticket. There will be four gift

baskets raffled off at the spring concert. If each student sells to their parents, the choir can make

at least $255.00. Most of these fundraisers mentioned can be utilized and redone multiple times

throughout the school year. Along with fundraisers, each student will be asked to pay $75.00

student dues. These dues will go towards paying for dresses, the music that will be ordered, and

any other materials, such as snacks and water for the students. If more fundraisers are done, the

choir can use that money in order to pay their way to a festival or competition in another city or

state.
