NAME: Allenia Walthour

Lesson Title: Counting by 10's

Grade Level: Kindergarten

Subject:
Math

Description of Learning Goals, Standards, Objectives

CC/GPSs: Which of the GPSs or QCCs align with the curriculum and your specific
lesson? Numbers of Operations In Base Ten

Select up to 2 Georgia Performance with the necessary elements. Copy

and paste them here.

Content Standards-Content standards are broad statements of what

students
should know and be able to do in a specific content area.
They state the purpose and direction the content is to take
and are generally followed by elements.

Depth of Knowledge
(DOK)
Depth of knowledge (DOK) is a term that refers to the
substantive character of the ideas in the performance
standards. DOK classifies the various levels of understanding
that students must demonstrate as they encounter and
master the content and skills within the performance
National Technology Which technology standard(s) are you addressing in this activity? (See the
Standards: NETs-S standards in Week 3)
Technology Productivity Tools
Students:
a. use technology tools to enhance learning, increase productivity, and
promote creativity.
b. use productivity tools to collaborate in constructing technology-
enhanced models, preparing
publications, and producing other creative works.
Technology Problem-Solving and Decision-Making Tools
Students:
a. use technology resources for solving problems and making informed
decisions.

b. employ technology in the development of strategies for solving

problems in the real world.
Long-Term Learning Goal I want my students to learn how to count by tens and also know
or Outcome: the hundreds, tens and ones places.

ABCD Objectives or With your learners characteristics in mind, take the standards written
Outcomes: above and rewrite them using the Audience Behavior Condition Degree
method. Note: You will need to break down the GPSs into several
objectives.
Audience- The students in Ms. Walthour's Classroom
Behavior- I will expect the students to learn how to base count by using
tens and ones
Condition- Obviously, a student must know how to count to at least
100 to understand this lesson. I believe that before we introduce the
apps and other learning materials, I need to do a pre-assessment and
see if my students can count and if they know number recognition.
Degree- I want this lesson to be an introductory lesson. I don't expect
the children to master this lesson in a day. This lesson will take practice
and time.

Description of Assessment
Assessment Plan: What evidence do you have of students understanding? How will know that
they have met the objectives above? You must have an assessment
statement for each objective. Write your assessment statements in this
box.
How I plan to show the edvidence of the students knowledge of this lesson
is seeing if they can teach this very same lesson to their classmates as
well as the other Kindergarten students. I think a great way to assess
these students will be in group learning and individual learning. I beleive that
having a quiz will also be a great way to asses if the child knows this
information.
Description of Activities with Technology and Materials
Activity Design:
Plan to create curricula that includes diverse and
multiple perspectives.
Class starter and lesson connection:
How will you get the students attention and
motivate them?
I believe that if students have a iPad or they are able
to see a YouTube video of the activity that will excite
them. Being in this field I have learned that children
enjoy technology.

What will you do/say or have the students do/say in

order to connect this lesson with the previous one or
build on prior knowledge?
Teacher and student activities:
I would start off with explaining what we are going
to be doing and what I expect of my students to
learn from this activity. I would explain that this is
a math activity that involves counting.

Describe the activities in which you and the

students will engage. Be a "fly on the wall" and
describe in detail what is going on in your
classroom.
I would demonstrate on the board of how to
make a tens base. I would then explain how this
would help them in learning about the
hundreds,tens and ones place.

Technology Connection: Describe the strategies you will use.

I would use intructional teaching as well as
technology sources that deal with this activity.
Do you need to provide direct instruction? If so,
describe it.
I need to provide direct instruction because this
activity is very hands on. I plan on drawing a tens
and ones base on the board so the students can
see it for themselves.

Will you facilitate the lesson? If so, describe your

approach.
Initially in the beginning I will however, I plan to
put my students in groups. My approach will be
explain and give a visual of what tens and ones
bases look like on the board.

Will students work independently, with a partner or

in groups? Describe.
Materials and Resources: Children will work both individually and with a
group. Individually they will write their own bases
and with a group they will use their iPads and the
app to create tens bases.

What strategies, materials, etc. are you using to

teach children with exceptionalities?
I believe that with using the ipad is a method that
teachers use for students with exceptionalities.

Which technology will support the lesson? List the

technology, software, URLs, etc. that you and/or the
students will use. Describe the technology
integration strategies you will use.

I will be using an Ipad and the app that the

students will use is called Math Slide: tens and
ones
List any handouts, books, equipment, media, etc.
that you will use to support your lesson.
Dry erase board for instruction and ipad for
lesson
Reflection on Lesson Design
Future Actions : Answer the following questions:

Explain how you incorporated information from the

chapter and D2L modules into this lesson plan.
I was able to incorporate the standards and
objectives that we have learned to facilitate this
lesson.

After considering this lesson plan, what will you do

differently when you design the next lesson in light
of your new understandings?
I think that I will add more instruction as far as
teaching on my end. I think also I would need to
know what level each child is on and try to
incorporate that in the lesson.

Or, if you had more time/resources, etc., how would

you change the lesson and/or technology artifact?
I will enjoy the smart board. I think that this is a
great way to teach students and also engage them
in activities.

How does your technology artifact showcase design

principles? I think the main things would be the
visual and design proportions. I didn't want the app
to be too overwhelming. Because at this age
children have very short attention span and I wanted
the app to get straight to the point.

How does your technology artifact require student

use of higher order thinking skills?
This app forces them to think about what tens and
ones places are and what what numbers formulate
when you have these certain groups together.

How does the technology in your lesson align to the

content you are trying to teach in your lesson?
The technology aligns extremely well with my
lesson. This app is able to teach the same thing
that I plan to teach. However, it is formatted in a fun
way. It makes the lesson more intriguing.
