A Professionalism and Understanding

Nadeera shows a commitment to the teaching profession and personal growth as a teacher and a learner.

Nadeera displays a high standard of professional behavior like punctuality, personal organization and
presentation.
B Planning for Learning

You have presented lesson plan in a clear way, the lesson and the activities were appropriate to
students level.
The warming up was engaging and the instructions were explained clearly and thoughtfully.

You have created appropriate pair and group work activities to facilitates learning

You have prepared carefully structures activities aimed at teaching a math content and process of
addition and subtractions of fractions.

Try to plan a lesson, which provide challenge to some learners levels.

Keep in mind to show and present some clear aims for students to achieve at the end of the session
and for you to manage your lesson more effectively.

Try to minimize the teacher talk and maximize students centered focus in your lesson through
activities for different learning styles.

Language and delivery


It was clear that you graded own language to the level of students

You have provides clear and effective models/demonstrations of classroom tasks and activities.

You managed to maintains target language focus throughout the lesson

It was clear that you used a range of effective questioning and elicitation techniques, this is a really good
strategy to elicit students thinking about the topic.

For your next lesson try to use a range of student-centered interaction patterns like pairwork, groupwork,
individual and whole class tasks, this way you will minimize the teacher talk and maximize students
centeredness. And for students to apply the knowledge thy have gained from your lesson.

Always have a back up activity for learners who finish the task early.

Classroom management
You have used appropriate activities to encourage and maintain active student participation.

You tried to maintains pace and motivation, but still some students were not motivated enough so you
might want to use some interactive activities that would engage learners more.

Try to have some classroom rules especially while students are working in groups, to maintain a good
teaching environment.

Communication skills
You seem to builds rapport through interaction with students while maintaining a professional teaching
demeanor.

You seem to use appropriate body language, eye contact, gestures and voice to maintain an effective
classroom presence.

You seem to create a positive and active learning environment in the classroom

I really liked how you were providing appropriate feedback to children to enhance learning and encourage
co-operative behavior

General Comments

Overall, it was a good lesson that seemed to add a value to students knowledge. Make sure that you display the
objectives of the lesson on the board and measure at the end of the lesson what was achieved and what wasnt.
For future lessons, try to challenge some of the high level students that you have in your class. It was a nice
lesson keep up the good work.. Looking forward to more improvements in your upcoming lessons and future
teaching.

A Professionalism and Understanding

You seemed to continuously show commitment to the teaching profession and personal growth as a
teacher and learner.

You Show initiative, enthusiasm, active participation and engagement in the classroom and based from
your MST comments at the school as well.

From my observation and from your MST feedback I can tell that you have been working collaboratively
and cooperatively with peers, colleagues, and (when needed) parents, in a sensitive and effective
manner.

You seemed to display a high standard of professional behavior, which includes punctuality, personal
organization and presentation
B Planning for Learning

Your MST have shared with me how you seem to plan your activities and lessons collaboratively with her
and with her consultation that shows a greater autonomy.

Your lesson was presented in a clear, detailed professional way showing evidence of the analysis of target
content and process skills used in lessons

You seemed to develop materials showing recent approaches to teaching

It was obvious that you tried to make your lesson, student-centered focus as you tried to limit teacher talk
and give students more engaging activities.

You have prepared activities for mostly group interaction patterns, to facilitate learning.

You aimed at preparing structured activities aimed at teaching fractions with mixed numbers, and you had
enough activities for all students.

You made an effort to have differentiated activities across a range of abilities, to help students reach their
potential.

Your activities and your lesson in general was appropriate to the students level, I liked how you made the
effort to make some of the activities a bit challenging for some learners. But dont forget to scaffold the
others as well when needed.

You had some clear aims for your lesson and clear objectives, and it would be great if you can make them
visually appear in your class. Discus them with the students so at the end of the session you and cross
them off after your lesson ends, to check students understanding as well. This is just a tip for you.

You seemed to use a suitable amount of effective questioning and elicitation techniques when
appropriate.

You managed to have smooth transitions between activities.

You used some clear instructions to orchestrate classroom activities.

You Maintained target language focus throughout the lesson. Try to encourage your students to do the
same especially while they work in their groups. Set some rules if you wish.

You managed to provide clear and effective models/demonstrations of classroom tasks.

Classroom management

You used resources and equipment effectively to engage all students (e.g. board, ICT, realia, displays,
textbooks,)

You managed to use appropriate strategies to encourage and maintain active student participation. I
loved the princes and the castle theme.

You have established and maintained a safe and supportive learning environment.

You showed an effort to manage class time effectively but keep in mind to time your activities to help
both you and your students to control your class time more effectively.

It was obvious that you established some rules and clear routines for behavior in the classroom, be
consistent with the always.

Try to have a record to recognize the level to which each learner is achieving

Use more of different kinds of assessments appropriately for different purposes to assess learners
achievements.

Try to assess how well learning objectives were achieved, if you had them visually appeared on the board
you might asked the students a questions of each and then cross the objective that has been met.

E Reflection

You have made a good effort to reflect thoughtfully upon own practice with relation to HCT teaching
competencies

You managed to work on the reflections from the last observation, which shows improvement.

You were able to demonstrate ability to discuss students development with me and your MST.

You used my comments form the last observation to improve your future performance.

General Comments

Overall, it was a good lesson in general that contained and targeted certain objectives, and seemed to benefit the
students knowledge overall. For future lessons, work on some of the comments of improvements mentioned
above. But overall, it was a really nice lesson I really enjoyed it and I can tell that students loved it as well, keep
up the good work. ^_^
