Japan Invades Manchuria Sep 18, 1931

The Japanese invasion of Manchuria began on September


18, 1931. Japan invaded right after the Mukden incident.
Between September 20 and September 25, Japanese
forces took Hsiungyueh, Changtu, Liaoyang, Tungliao,
Tiaonan, Kirin, Chiaoho, Huangkutun and Hsin-min. The
occupation lasted until the end of WWII.

WW2 Broke Out Sep 3, 1939

WWII was started because of an unprovoked


attack by Germany on Poland. Britain and France
Declared war on Germany. Hitler still refused to
withdraw from Poland.
America Declared Neutrality in WW2 Sep 5,
1939

The United States didnt want anything to do with


WWII. The President Declared neutrality on Sep 5,
1939. America was didnt want to join the war
because they were just getting out of the great
depression.
Japan Prepared Attack On Pearl Harbor
05:00 Dec 7, 1941

Admiral Nagumo from Japan was the one tasked with


the attack pearl harbor. He was a highly decorated
commander in the Japanese military. He had 183
warplanes, consisting of 51 dive bombers, 40 torpedo
bombers, 50 high level bombers and 43 fighters. His
troops were led by Comdr. Mitsuo Fuchida.
Japanese Sub Sank Outside Pearl Harbor

The first glimpse of the Japanese before the


bombing is when a Japanese midget sub was
sunk. The USS Ward was the ship to sink it. It was
Sunk at the entrance of Pearl Harbor. The USS
Ward radioed in and told the Naval base.
Second Wave Of Japanese Planes Attacked
07:55 Dec 7, 1941

The second wave came at 07:55 A.M on December


7th. It was an early Sunday morning. The second
wave consisted of 168 aircrafts. This wave was the
most devastating.
Executive Order 9066 Feb 19, 1942

Executive order 9066 was signed by President


Roosevelt. This order allowed the internment of any
persons the U.S. military deemed a threat. 120,000
Japanese were interned at this time. They were held for
2 to 3 years.
Atomic Bombs Dropped On Japan Aug 6
and 9, 1945

The U.S. dropped 2 atomic bombs on Hiroshima and


Nagasaki. This was a retaliation for the bombing of
Pearl Harbor. The first bomb was called Little Boy
that was dropped on Hiroshima on August 6th. The
bomb dropped on Nagasaki was called Fat Boy and
it was dropped 3 days after the first.
442nd Regiment Received On White House
Lawn July 15, 1946

The 442nd regiment was made up of all Japanese


Americans. The president gave a speech on the white
house lawn for the brave men. In his speech he said this
famous quote. "You fought not only the enemy but you
fought prejudice -- and you have won,"
