Dear Glenridge Parents and Guardians,

I am writing to inform you that several classroom fountains in Glenridge Elementary School
were shut off on Monday, October 3. Through Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS)
multi-phase testing and remediation program, it was determined that 45 classroom and
bathroom sinks tested above the EPA Action Level for lead. Water from these sinks are not
drinkable, however, they can be used safely to wash hands and for cleaning activities in the
classroom. As a continuous process and precautionary measure, we turned off
additional fixtures last week for testing purposes, which included the fountains in the hallways
and multi-purpose room. These fixtures were cleared for drinking prior to turning off the valve
and are still safe for drinking.

In accordance with the Safe Water Drinking Act, bottled water was immediately provided to the
facility after the valves were shut off. There are five water coolers located throughout the school
for drinking purposes. Students and staff have unlimited access to drinking water. We have also
ordered additional water coolers for the school. We do not have a timeline on when the pipes
will be replaced, however, we will continue to provide drinkable water until the problem is
resolved.

We are committed to maintaining a safe environment for our students and are working closely
with County and State leaders to address these issues. If you have any questions, please
contact Sam Stefanelli, Director, Building Services at sam.stefanelliCc).pgcps.orq.

Sincerely,

Gloria B. McCoy, Ed.D.
