As a specialist science educator, I enhanced my understanding of how to
effectively communicate scientific ideas to the public (including adults and
children).
This workshop also helped me understand how to better interpret science reported
in the media for my students.

Moderated by RiAus Director (and former journalist) Dr Paul Willis with expert
assistance provided by Kylie Andrews from the ABC this session will help you
understand the media process from plan to print.
The workshop is suitable for all science professionals involved in research,
communications or policy roles.

This event gave me an opportunity to hear presentations by three diverse
educators about a ranges of topics covering the standards including innovative
ways to enhance student literacy, the ways in which students engage in reading
for pleasure and the teaching of specialist science.

The speaker spoke about his recent Antarctic research expedition and different

lessons and other digital learning opportunities to link researchers in the field and
students.
