For the proposal/subjectivity statement, please answer the following questions:
1. What do you know about this topic already?
2. What is your working inquiry question? 3. Why do you think it is worth studying? Why are you interested in this topic? 4. Do you have assumptions about this topic? Explain. 5. Logistics: What research have you already consulted, and what other sources do you plan to consult? 6. What potential issues with data collection do you anticipate? 7. What is the outcome youd like to see for this project? Protesting is an action that is taking place around the world almost constantly. Something, somewhere is being protested. Personally, I know very little about protesting other than that it happens. For my inquiry project I am going to base my question around protesting. More specifically, what are the benefits of protesting and just how effective is protesting? I believe that this topic and question is worth studying because just how relevant protesting is throughout the world. I also find it interesting the different things being protested throughout the different parts of the world. For example, places like America are protesting for women equality while other parts of the world are protesting for women to even have any rights. I find protesting interesting because of how much it happens but often times I do not see what is being protested changing due to the protests. For example, people will protest the president of the United States, but he is not going to step down from office due to these protests. I am curious to find out exactly what benefits from protesting whether it simply be the unity that can come from it. I do not really have assumptions about this topic due to how unfamiliar I am with protesting. The conclusion that I can assume the most is that some people do not protest due to how effective the protest will be but due to how it can bring people together. But then again, there is power in numbers. I have done very little research on this topic but I am planning on using Atkins Library as well as Google Scholar for my sources when addressing this topic. Some potential issues that I can see arising as I am trying to research my inquiry question is extremely broad sources, or sources that are older than what I want to use. I want to research the protesting that is extremely current in society and I am not sure if there will be articles and e-books that are writing of such current events. I know there will be articles on protests from different eras but I am not sure how many there will be that are extremely up-to- date. The outcome that I would like to see from this project is a personal newfound knowledge of what exactly protesting is like in the modern day world and just how effective it truly is. I want to see what the benefits are from both the eye of the protesters as well as the bystanders, people like me. I want to see this paper reveal ideas that I had no idea about previously. I want this paper to enlighten protesting as it is right now in modern day.
