Novice Mid, Presentational Speaking
I can present information about myself and some other very familiar topics using a
variety of words, phrases, and memorized expressions.
Content Objective(s):
Students should be able to present their family tree to their classmates and talk about
their family stories. Student should also be able include graphic, picture in their
family tree and create a family tree model as a class.
Language Objective(s):
Students should be able to retell family stories using the correct past tense and verbs.

5 min Good Morning Class, today we are going to continue learning about our
Launching family history. We are going to exploring our family history and learn
more about each others family stories.
Since we have learned yesterday about our family history by develop a
family tree and we learned the vocabularies to describe a family.

Introduce Raise your hand if you can remind the class some key words that we
learned to build a family tree yesterday?
1. Mother
2. Father
3. Grandparents
4. Uncle
5. Aunt
6. Brother
7. Sister
8. Son
9. Daughter
10. Husband
11. Wife
12. Baby

5 min After review the vocabularies, students start to learn to talk about their family
Introduction history from building a timeline. Teacher will present a timeline and introduce
and modeling the class with a sample family story.
Great! Those are all the vocabularies that we learned! And today, what we are
going to do is to make use those vocabulary we learned and instead of a family
tree we will drew a family time line.
Some key words that we are going to learn and trying to use is when, before,
after. Here is my family story.
Teacher will model the story telling with the timeline of teachers family
history time line.
What is important for the timeline? The time! The person! What happened?
Understandin Teacher will ask questions about the timeline related the key words. For

When is your grandfather born?
What happened before my family move to XXX?
What happened after I am born?

After those questions being asked, let students to ask question using the key
words that they learned today and earlier.
Individual Students will then being dismiss to go back to their own table seats and start
Work Time working on their own family time line.
15 minutes Now it is your turn to create a family time line by yourself. Make sure to
include the important elements for a timeline. The time, the year or date? Who
is there? And what happened?
Teacher Getting students attention back to the front of the class let them gather in the
Modeling front of the class.
4 minutes Now I would like you to introduce your family by using a family timeline! I
will do one example with my timeline. Pay attention to how I say the sentence
using our key words.
In 1935, my grandmother was born. And my grandfather was born two
years after my grandmother. They got married in 19xx. And it is really
interesting that my father Cliff was born in 1986 and this is my mother Jessica
who born in the same year! They got married XX years ago. They got me as
their baby in 1996. I am their daughter.

Gallery Walk Now we are going to do a gallery walk in our classroom. I would like everyone
16 minutes to set his or her time line down. And we are going to split in to 3 different
groups. Group A is going to introduce his/her family tree to who every walk to
your poster. For example, if I am in Group A. I will set my poster and introduce
my family to whoever standing in front of my poster.

I will say switch every 1 minutes. And you as a visiting should go to someone
elses poster and listen to their introduction.
Student will then walk around the room listening or introducing their family to
other people.
Group Join back as a whole class.
Discussion Great, so we have listened to everyones presentation of their family tree. Is
5 minutes there anything interesting they found out from others timeline?

Conclusion Great job everybody! Let us do a quick review, what we learned in the last two
2 minutes classes. What are the two ways to learn about our family history?
