Mrs.

Be prepared (with all your class materials)

Be respectful. (This means respect for yourselves (by accepting responsibility

for your actions), for your classmates through being kind, polite, courteous, dont
discriminate and dont bully, for the school, supplies, and for me as the teacher.
We want this to be a safe zone classroom)

Be Responsible.

o A responsible person is one who is able to act without guidance or

supervision, because he or she is accountable and answerable for his or
her behavior. Such a person can be trusted or depended upon to do things
on his or her own.
o Such a person will follow through on obligations. Being a responsible
person means you have good character.

Be an engaged learner. (Students should be)

o Paying attention (be alert, tracking with their eyes, not sleeping or with
your head down on your desk)
o Taking notes Listening (as opposed to chatting, engaging on off-task
behavior or sleeping)
o Asking questions. (These should be relevant to the topic or task)

o Responding to questions (whole group, small group, four corners,

Socratic Seminar)
o Reading critically (with pen in hand)

debating, and asking questions.

these items will be confiscated if seen and turned in to the front office. This
means no headphones in class.
o All students will have a physical silent reading book. Students will
not be allowed to read on their phones.

Potty Policy:
o You will receive 5 potty passes each grading period. Use them wisely.
Remember, you should take care of your bathroom needs, before school,
during passing periods, during lunch, or during classroom breaks.
o Once you are out of passes, you will not be able to leave for the restroom
or water during class time.
o If you lose your potty passes, that you will have no passes.

o Going to the potty after your initial five passes will result in the loss of all
your participation points for that day.
o At the end of each grading period, unused passes may be redeemed for a
reward of 3 extra credit points per pass for a total of 15 points.
CITIZENSHIP:
Citizenship grades will be given based on attendance, participation, and class behavior.
Office referrals will result in a full grade drop in citizenship.
Any inappropriate behavior will be addressed in following ways:
1. Warning: After the first warning, each additional warning will result in a loss of 5
participation points.
2. Student/Teacher Conference
3. Parent Conference with a behavior contract
4. Detention or removal from class

PARTICIPATION:
Students are expected to participate in class and will receive points based on their
participation. Failure to come to class, being prepared, tardies, truancies, and failure to
follow class rules will result in a loss of participation points. Using the restroom after
your initial five passes have been used will also result in loss of the days participation
points.
E/XTRA CREDIT:
*I will NOT allow students to turn in any extra credit if they have any missing
assignments. (Potty passes and book donation included)
Every term, I will allow students to donate (this means they will not be getting them
back) two grade-level appropriate novels to the classroom library. For each novel, they
will receive an additional 6 points per book, but they can only turn in two novels per
term.
*Please, have these be used novels. I do not expect students/parents to buy novels to
donate. Just donate novels that are intact and grade level appropriate.

points per book and 3 points per unused potty pass) maximum of two books and 5 potty
passes.
