Profile on Mr. David Coulson

This semester has been a semester of redemption for me. After

allowing my grads to fall in the recent year I have spent this year to fix the

issue that is my GPA and make it possible to stay in school. My schedules

were thought through and the teachers I picked were all looked up and then I

still asked about the teachers. This was very important and I am glad to say

for the most part it has gone well. This is mainly impart to the person I am

writing about in this profile. Ever since the first day of entering David Lynn

Coulsons class I knew that I had chosen a good class to start my day off with

and point the rest of my day in the right direction.

Who is David Coulson? Well, he was born February, 26 1958 and is

from Fresno, California. He was born to Ola Coulson and Eula Coulson and has

3 living siblings and one who has passed this. Mr. Coulson is married to Cheryl

Coulson and has been for 23 years they currently live in the marvelous, town

of Boone North Carolina. And has 2 daughters Charlotte and Kelly, Charlotte

is 19 and Kelly is 16. Mr. Coulson is a family man with seven nieces, three

nephews, 15 great nephews, one great niece, three great-great nephews and

one great-great niece.

Mr. Coulson has and is still having a long career in journalism and he is

currently an adjunct instructor at Appalachian state University, working in the

department of communications as an Intro to Journalism, News Reporting and

Literary Journalism in the Appalachian State Department of Communication

teacher. He is also still currently working at the College Sports Journal in

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania as the Executive Editor/ Managing Partner. While

working in this position he started a new news service and website that

covers the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision he did this

completely by himself and another cohort. The system has coverage of other

college sports, such as mid-major college basketball, baseball, softball,

volleyball and hockey.

Mr. Coulson had his education at Fresno City College and was part of a

nationally-acclaimed journalism department that won the national Hearst

Writing Competition in 1980. He worked as part of the student editing team

that prepared stories before submission to the competition. As well as served

as a writer and editor for the department's weekly newspaper, Insight, and

the campus daily newspaper, The Daily Collegian. Covered the college

football and basketball beats for The Daily Collegian. Coulson wrote a popular

historical column on the decade of the 1960s for Insight

Why am I Doing a profile on Mr. Coulson? You may ask. Well I am not

the most talented in the field of journalism, and I was not looking forward to

being in the class. However, now that I have finished the class I am glad I

have taken it I learned a lot about my writing and about the News in general.

He made sure the Atmosphere of the class stress free and made it easy to

learn the material. With credentials like Being a Television host, and going to

school at Fresno City College, Appalachian state has a great Journalism

department with David Coulson in the Journalism Department.
