Read the questions below and write your answers
1. What is the school policy for inclusion for SEN
students in the school? In this school as I observe there are no special teacher for special needs students because the cases they have are not serious.
2. What accommodations were made for the identified
SEN students in the classroom? The teacher assistant sits next to Khalifa alone tries to reteach the activities by following new techniques that suit him some of these activities are visuals, toys and hands on activities. At this time Khalifa felt happy and involved in the learning activity because the teacher assistant kept parsing him whenever he did something well. And when Khalifa was performing well and whenever he finishes his work he goes directly to the teacher and tells her about his task achievement. These help Khalifa not to get bored. Another accommodation that was applied in the lesson happened when Miss Lolitha sat with him on the carpet to encourage him to perform the actions and guide him during the activities. Khalifa was very enthusiastic and active while doing the dance performance. He was singing loudly which meant that he had full involvement and engagement in the lesson.
3. Was there any assistive technology, other equipment
or materials used with the identified SEN students? If yes, please describe the equipment that was used and what it was used for. Yes, smart board to stimulate learning and sometimes iPad which has educational apps on it so students doesnt get bored while their learning.
4. What teaching strategies did your MST use with the
identified SEN students? The teacher takes the special need students and ask him to sit with the teacher assistant while the teacher sits with other students and observe them maybe if they didnt understand something she explains for them. For example other students color and cut and paste and Khalifa just color. Even if Khalifa now dont cut and paste he will learn everything in the commencing days but in his situation he must learn everything slowly because he has slow development problems. But whenever he achieves something even if it was very simple the teacher praise him for example excellent Khalifa I will hand your work on the wall or good job Khalifa choose which sticker do you want? Ok where do you want me to put it? On your cheeks ok. That will let Khalifa to work hard and to take his work serious. 5. Where there any other school staff that worked with the identified SEN students? If yes, please explain their role and what they did with the identified SEN student. No
6. Do you think that SEN students should be included in
the classroom or taught in class specifically for SEN students? Why / Why not? I think that special need students should be included in a normal class so that he doesnt feel that there is a different between him and others, the special need student in my opinion, should be in a normal class and learn normally but if other students are subtracting for example 10-5=?. The special need students take 5-3=. We cant give special need student equations that doesnt suits their level because if they had a difficult question and they didnt know how to solve it they will feel so sad and they will also put on their mind that whenever they write down the answer is wrong and next time they will not try to thing about the answer so they will start distracting the class.
