Group Rationale: While conducting a prescreening interview for the OGS
with another school counselor, I noticed that most of the seniors who
interviewed lacked the skills needed to perform well in an interview. This
school-wide programming will help educate seniors on the importance of
being professionally ready for future college interviews and beyond.
According to Reference, an interview is a very good time for the applicant to
prove that they have the mindset and qualifications for the job they are
applying for. (Reference.com)

Goals
Students will be able to understand the purpose of the group
Students will be able to professionally prepare for an interview
Students will be able to demonstrate the knowledge learned through
groups from a videotaped interview

Pre-Screening: Students who interviewed for Office of General Services
internship
Leadership Style Modified Democracy Leadership
Evaluation
A group mock interview will be held by a different counselor to assess
group goals.
Attendance will be taken before and after the group session and
students must be present for 120 minutes of the group session.
3 out of the 6 participants will successfully earn an internship with the
OGS.

Group Rationale: According to EAB.com, 90 percent of non-white low-


income students will not graduate on time. As a school counselor, I am
determined to help educate first generation college bound students about
strategies that will be beneficial towards their college career.

Goals: First generation college bound freshman will set reasonable goals and
take necessary steps to achieve their goals within four years.
