Philosophy of Nursing

A career in nursing is not easy in nature but is rewarding and

adds value to ones life. To me, nursing is the opportunity to positively

impact those around you with your kindness, presence, and willingness

to help. A nurse doesnt judge or see people only for their diagnosis,

she sees each patient as a whole person with emotional, spiritual and

physical aspects. To be a nurse is to treat illness and spread kindness,

be a hand to hold and a shoulder to cry on. A nurse doesnt seek

recognition for these selfless acts but rather finds pride in being

someone that her patients feel comfortable to rely on and confide in

each and every day.

The title of a nurse is not something that you can remove or take

off when you leave the hospital each morning or night. It is the genuine

nature of a person and I believe it is something I will proudly put on

display. To be a nurse is to be knowledgeable and strong. A nurse uses

her knowledge to make life-saving decisions and advocate for what she

believes is right. I believe that nurses are powerful and have the ability

to effect change in their patients lives, in their hospital, in their

community or even in the country or across the world.
