B. Motivation
(Song for Telling Time)
Clock maam.
We use clock to know what the time
is.

Maam, we are going to use clock in

telling time.

C. Presentation of the Lesson

All eyes here in front!
What do you see?
Jane, whats the purpose why we use clock? Maam, there are 24hours in one day.
Very good! We use clock for us to know what
the time is.
In relation to this, our lesson for today is all
about Telling Time.
Each of us was given by God enough time to do
things.
D. Development of the Lesson
For a deeper understanding, let us discuss one
Two twenty maam.
by one the things that we should know
regarding time.
Again, what are we going to use in telling time?

A round clock like this has two hands.

The short and the long hand.
The short hand tells the hour.
The long hand tells the minutes. (students will do the activity)
The short hand can also be called as hour
hand.
The long hand can also be called as the
minute hand.
How many hours are there in one day?
The long hand is being read using skip
counting by five.
Just like 1, is read as five.
2 is read as 10, 3 is read as fifteen, 4 as 20, 5
as 25, 6 as 30, 7 as 35, 8 as 40, 9 as 45, 10 as
50, 11 as 55 and
If the minute hand reaches the 12 and hour
hand points any number like 3, you are going
to read that as three o clock. For better
understanding, lets go back to the hour hand
or the short hand.
If the short hand points at 1, we read that as
one, if it points to 3, we read that as three.
And so on
Lets try it!
The hour hand points 2 and the long hand
points 4.
Whats the time?
We use A.M. and P.M. in telling time.
The A.M. is used in the morning before noon,
A.M. means Ante Meridian, Ante means before.
We use P.M. in the afternoon, P.M. means Post
Meridian, Post means after.
We have an activity where you will identify
these pictures if it is an Ante meridian or Post
meridian. Tell time maam.

Short and long hand maam.

Morning maam.
Afternoon or evening maam.

(students will do)

Class, if there are round clock like this there

are also digital clock like this.
You cannot see here a short and a long hand.
You can only see here two sets of numbers,
separated by colon.
The first one tells about the hour and the
number on the left tells the minute.
We separate the hour and minutes by the use
of colon (:), we are going to write it in between
the hour and minute.
Example, 3:00 or 6:25.
