Writing Prompts 6 Literacy Narrative

The main country of origin for my family is India. Majority of my family started off in
India, my parents were actually the first generation to come to the United States. So in Indian the
flag is commonly referred to as the tricolor flag because it is known for its three colors; the
orange, the white, and the green. The flag lays out horizontally and is divided in three horizontal
sections. The top section is completely orange, the middle section is white with a navy blue
circular wheel in the middle, and the bottom is completely green. The navy blue circular wheel
that has 24 spokes and is called the Ashoka Chakra. The Ashoka Chakra is represents the
principles/law to those who work under the flag, in other terms it represents the law of Dharma.

Before the national flag came about there were a lot of evolutions of the flag. The first
flag was lifted on August 7, 1906, it was laid out horizontally and is divided into 3 horizontal
sections. The top section was green with white lotus flowers spread across, the middle was
yellow with navy blue letters written in Hindi that spells out Vande Matram, which stands for I
praise thee, Mother or I bow to thee, Mother, and the last section was red with a white moon
on the right side and a white sun on the left side. The second flag was very similar to the first
flag, this was lifted in Paris in 1907 by Madame Cama. It was laid horizontally which is divided
into 3 horizontal sections. The top section is orange with small white flowers spread across, the
middle was yellow with black letters written in Hindi that also spelt out Vande Matram, and the
last section was green with a white sun on the left side and a white moon with a star on top of it
on the right side. The third flag was also laid out horizontally but wasnt divided into any
sections. It was lifted in 1917, it had horizontal green and red stripes all across. A British flag
was placed on the top left corner and a white moon with a start on top of it on the top right side
of the flag. But on July 22, 1947 the national flag was adopted.

The national flag was created as a symbol of freedom. India was under British rule for
200 years, between the years of 1763 and 1815. I was adopted during its presence during the
meeting of the Constituent Assembly, which was just a few days before Indias independence
from the British on August 12, 1947. The flag was designed by an agriculturist and Indian
freedom fighter named Pingali Venkayya. The companies in India that manufacture the flag are
held by the Khadi Development and Village Industries Commission. In India all over the flag is
made out of a special type of hand-spun cloth or silk called Khadi.

The Indian national anthem is called Jana Gana Mana. The national anthem in India is
valued very highly. In its sung in school before the day begins and in many patriotic events. The

anthem was first written in Bengali and was later adopted into the Hindi version on January 24,
1950 by the constituent assembly. I was first sung on December 7, 1911 at the Calcutta Session
of the Indian National Congress. The underlying message of the anthem overall is pluralism.
There are so many different ways to gain Indian citizenship. Its not hard but it Is very
time taking. The main four ways are as follows, there is a specific form called the Form-I which
is commonly used in many of the situations. If you are an individual that lived in Indian for at

then you use Form-1 section 5(1)(b). You can also become a citizen through marriage, if you
