Assignment 7-1: Finalized Personal Mission Statement

What do you understand about yourself and how to be a successful student?

I know that I value truth and that I desire for others to know truth as well. At this point in my

life, I am not exactly sure what God will be leading me to do long-term, but I know I need to be

faithful to do my best in the opportunities he has placed before me today.

I understand more and more the value of being present in my day to day life and investing in

the people who are my neighbors. I am also learning to see my neighbors in the way Jesus

described my neighbors to be in Luke chapter 10 with the story of the Good Samaritan.

I have confidence that God is preparing me for whatever lies ahead in this life. Part of

preparing for the future is being faithful in my classes and the educational opportunities God has

given. Another area that will help me to be a successful student is being honest with myself and

identifying my weaknesses in order to give them to the Lord and address them in a proactive

way.

How do your ideas about yourself align with how others see you?

I think the ways in which I see myself are mainly in line with how other people see me. It

is my desire that those who spend time with me would know what I value most. The two people I

asked to fill out the questionnaire know me well and have seen me in many situations. The

feedback I received was encouraging and also a good reminder of the areas in which I need to be

intentional and conscious of.

The section in the questionnaire on my weaknesses was not a surprise to me. The

different things listed as potential weaknesses I know are true, and it was a good reminder to take

note of how those can influence my actions and relationships.

What is the role of God in your vocational calling?

When I am surrendered to the Lord he will never fail to give me a passion and calling to

be lived out. I am unsure of the details of how my calling will unfold, but I know what things

God has placed on my heart to pursue. I know there is value in making life goals and plans, but

my desire is to always place my goals and plans before the Lord with open hands. I never want to

hold so tightly to my plans that I miss Gods leading into his greater plan. I am simply a steward

of all God has given me and my calling to be a steward will never change, but how that is lived

out very well could change.

How does this apply to your day-to-day life?

The attitude I try to keep daily is that of obedience to God by doing whatever is the next

right thing. My desire is to live fully committed to the assignment God has placed before me

now.

To worry about where I will be in the future or what God will call me to next is not mine

to worry about. I know God loves me and has shown me that in so many ways. I desire more

than anything to love him with all my heart, soul, mind and strength, and to love my neighbor as

myself. I am painfully aware that I am not only weak, but completely powerless apart from

Christ. My life verse is 2 Corinthians 12:9 which says, But then he said to me, my grace is

sufficient for you for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore I will boast all the more

gladly about my weaknesses so that Christs power may rest on me.
