SNC Michael Lauletta Time 107 minutes (10:27
Supervisor: Allotted: 12:14)

Materials, including technology:

4 quadrant fractions, 4 quadrant words. Kahoot game, exit ticket

Standard(s), including literacy for all content areas and/or SMP

A.CED.1 Create equations and inequalities in one variable and use them to solve problems. Include equations arising
from linear function.

A.REI.1 Explain each step in solving a simple equation as following from the equality of numbers asserted at the
previous step, starting from the assumption that the original equation has a solution.

Objective(s): high cognitive demand for diverse learners Cognitive Level (DOK or
Blooms)
DOK 1
1. Students will be able to perform all 4 operations with
fractions.

DOK 2
2. Students will be able to write, solve, and graph expressions
and inequalities from both algebraic and English phrases.

3. Students will be able to apply concepts about expressions and inequalities DOK 3
to solve real world situations.

Connections to past learning or experience, building background

Students will review vocabulary associated with solving expressions (sum, difference, product, quotient etc..)

Essential Vocabulary Definitions

Expression An English or algebraic phrase that contains numbers, variables, and
operators (+/-/x/ or divide)

Equation Has both a left and right side set equal to each other.

Inequality The relationship between two expressions that can be written as < (less
than), > (greater than), < (less than or equal to), > (greater than or
equal to)
