Romeo and Juliet were Young, Dumb, and in Love

Romeo and Juliet are young when they meet, Juliet at 13 and Romeo at 17. They were

foolish, and didnt exactly know what they were doing, they fell too hard and too fast. Romeo

and Juliet believed that their love was the most pure and truest thing there ever was. The

teenagers didnt think that their youth and age difference was a major problem, they actually

thought it was a good thing to fall in love so young. Although Romeo and Juliet claim they know

what love is, their selfish, dangerous behavior proves that their love is no more than a teenage

crush.

In the beginning of Romeo and Juliet, it starts talking about the different houses and the

rivalry between them. Romeo was the son of the Montague House and Benvolio was Romeos

cousin, Mercutio was Romeos best friend. Juliet was the daughter of the Capulet house and

Tybalt was her cousin. The nurse was the person that had practically raised Juliet and not her

mother. When all characters are introduced, the book starts out with Tybalt and Benvolio and

there fight from the beginning. Later in the same Act, Romeo, Mercutio, and Benvolio all talk

about Romeos distraction, Rosaline. They decide to go to the Capulets party and meet Rosaline,

or get Romeo to talk to Rosaline and confess about his love for her. How the tables turned, when

they arrived Romeo met Juliet. They meet in a corner and share their first kiss, they have no clue

what they have got themselves into after that kiss though.
After they figured out where they were each from, Montague and Capulet houses, and

that they were from enemy houses, they still met up and declared their love for each other. Then

at the end of Act 2 they get married. Knowing each other for no more than nineteen hours, they

could not have fallen in love, let alone marry each other. The dumb aspect of love is falling in

love too fast. It was almost impossible to do that, unless of course feelings are absolutely true

and no doubting. That rarely happens though, love is something that takes time. Young people

will say they fall in love but they dont necessarily know what love is. Love may seem easy like

you have feelings for someone and you think, oh I am in love with them but really you arent,

they are just strong feelings you have for someone, not necessarily love. Romeo and Juliet are

the classic romance story, but there are faults, such as when Romeo loves Rosaline and then sees

Juliet and falls for her in seconds. The love in Romeo and Juliet seems unreasonable and

unrealistic because of how they fell in love so young and so fast.

In result of the love between Romeo and Juliet, many deaths had happened. Mercutio was

killed in the beginning of Act 3 scene 1 because of the differences in the houses but also because

of the joking gone bad, it affected Romeo. Romeo got mad at Tybalt, the one who killed

Mercutio, and went after him. They fought and Romeo ended up killing Tybalt, his cousin. After

Romeo and Juliet got married, he killed someone in his new family. Over the love of Mercutio,

Romeo killed Tybalt. Love took two lives, as well as youth and stupidity. Love makes you do

crazy, stupid things. Even knowing he killed her cousin, Juliet still loves Romeo and put aside

the fact he killed someone in her family. I dont know whether to call that sweet and romantic, or

complete and utter stupidity. Remember, Romeo killed someone in her family and how she

pushed the fact aside like it didnt matter makes zero sense to me. I would have wanted nothing

to do with that person ever again if they killed someone in my family. I would most likely kill
them the next time I saw them. Family love should always be more important than the love of

another outside your family.

After Juliet and Romeo talk about their love and his banishment that night, Juliets

mother comes into her room to tell her shell be marrying County Paris the following Thursday,

according to her father. Juliet, in a time of crisis had went to Friar, when Paris was talking to

him, and was going to get him not to marry them and find a way to get her back to Romeo. They

talk about a way that Romeo will be able to come back and get her, resulting in Juliet dying. I

find this completely over drastic and immature. I blame her being young and in love that she

would want to kill herself, fake or not, just for Romeo to come and get her so they can live

together. Either way they went about with this plan, something was going to fail. Romeo finding

a day too early and not getting the letter he was supposed to get. Or Juliet actually dying from the

potion and being locked in the catacomb. The plan was stupid and immature all around. Should

probably not have happened, but then the plot of the story would have been ruined, it fits in the

story, over drastic and countless.

When Romeo found out about Juliet being in the catacomb and dead, he rushed as fast as

he could to her and was going to die next to her, to be with her for the rest of their lives. When he

got their County Paris was already there putting flowers next to her body, because they were

supposed to be married the day after she was found dead in her room. Romeo had ran into

Pairs and of course County Pairs knowing of Romeo killing Tybalt was on guard and asking, or

rather telling, Romeo to surrender and let him take him in for treason and coming back. Romeo,

not liking that idea, put up a fight because he really only wanted to go and die beside his

beloved. Unfortunately County Pairs had to die for Romeo to get in and die next to Juliet.

Romeo killed County Pairs over his love for Juliet, another death over love, only for him to die
later on. When Romeo reached Juliet he noticed she didnt really look dead but rather just asleep,

he might have been 100% correct on that. He noticed Tybalt and talked about how the hand that

killed his cousin would kill the killer. The direct quote from the book is, Tybalt, liest thou there

in thy bloody sheet? O, what more favor can I do to the than with that hand that cut they youth in

twain to surrender his that was thy enemy? Forgive me, cousin! As Romeo was talking he was

more focused on Juliet, his that he loved, or thought so. Romeo being so young he thought a lot

of things that if he was older he wouldnt think would be true.

Overall, the story Romeo and Juliet focused on the tragic love story between Romeo, a

seventeen year old, and Juliet, a thirteen year old. The story, if you look and studied the text, was

more than tragic. Parts had pure love and some had pure stupidity. Fate had a major part in the

story, as well as violence, death, love, hate, youth, immaturity, and much more. The story all

together was a beautiful masterpiece by Shakespeare, but when you have a closer look at the

reading you think that the story is more over dramatic than realistic. It makes a perfect fairytale.

The story of Romeo and Juliet is a perfect story to reread, unless romance and stupidity isnt

your thing.
