DDDM I Page Summery


In the DDDM I, we were asked to complete a workbook which helps us determine what we need

to be able to answer an important question on about our nonprofit. The workbook helps us

breakdown the steps we need and helps us sort through information and create speck perimeter

that will allow us to better understand what information we need to gather to help us make our

decisions.

In step one, we needed to define you action questions. In this step, I choose to go with staff

development as the area I wanted to explore in the nonprofit. Then we were asked to create

several tactical question that we would like to find the answer to in staff development which

would allow the organization to improve if we were able to find a solution to the question. The

trick with coming up with these questions is that the question we choose needed to be something

that would help our organizations improve and that we would be able to have an impact on. The

most important aspect of the creating a ques is that is has to be tested and measured. This proved

to be challenging. In order to help us find out which of the question we created would be the

most helpful, the workbook asked us to fill out a chart asking different questions about the

questions that we created. For instance, Will the answer to this question help us improve as an

organization? Will your actions as an organization affect the answer to this question? Can

number help answer the question? And IS the question testable? The goal was to dig deeper into

the question for ultimately find the one that we had the most "YES" to and made the more sense

in answering and in terms of improving the organization. My question at the end of this process

is as follows: How many employees attend training? In step two, our main goal in this step is to

identify what parts of the organization would be affected by the answer to this question. In step

3, we need to narrow down which metric we can use. This section had three different question

and we need to select one. I selected: What specific decisions do you want to be able to make

abased on the answer to your question. I hoped to have a clear knowledge of the number of staff

that attends training in order to determine we the nonprofit is wasting fund on providing

unnecessary trainings/low attendance. In step four, we focus on narrowing down what could be

measured. We looked at three different categories. At the end we looked at all of them and

selected the 6 of the information. Making not on the metric used and the usefulness score of

each.

Overall, the purpose of the DDDM workbook was to help us define the process we need to take

in order to answer the action question which would ultimately help the organization improve.
