Short Answer Week 4

How does Concrete Poetry differentiate between the perceptual qualities of the signifiers
(the signs) rather than merely the signifieds (the concepts they refer to)? Support your
answer with an example from the course materials. How does the example you site force the
reader to "oscillate between reading and viewing modes?"

Concrete Poetry, the action of words and letters is imperative as to the importance and sound of
the same. This is the reason concrete poetry can comprehended the bits of visual craftsmanship
as much as the lyrics. The game plan of the words can be used to differentiate their importance or
to give witty visual examples. Concrete poetry request that your perusers sway amongst perusing
and vision, and now and again taking a concrete lyric can resemble taking a situation at a confuse
as we attempt to determine the association between the visual components and the words.

Concrete Poetry writers investigate the material measurement of dialect, its visual, acoustic and
semantic perspectives. They endeavor to make self-governing semantic substances, in which the
insightful characteristics of signifiers (signs) are underlined as opposed to simply implications
(the ideas to which they allude). One of the mainstays of Concrete Poetry is the accentuation on
structure, strategy, utilitarian development and dismissal of subjective expression. The
reasonable standards of the expressive arts, specifically constructivist and solid workmanship,
fill in the models and motivations, and also innovator and verifiable verse of the vanguard,
Dadaists and Futurists generally eminently.

Concrete artists likewise endeavor to react to changes in the average scene and to calculated
affinities with rising, progressively diminished, quicker, formally disentangled and consolidated
specialized dialects. Fixation, decrease and compactness, enter elements of verse by and large,
are in this way conveyed to another level in the moderate creations of solid verse. Concrete
Poetry puts the peruser at the focal point of the stage: it simply offers motivating forces, stripped
semantic structures, mental play ranges, however it is up to the peruser and his idyllic creative
ability to fill in the spaces.
What are the reasons that Lawrence Weiner cites as informing his decision to turn to
"language" as the "primary vehicle of the work?"
She realized that her piece could have been even more discreet and that viewers could have
experienced the same effect. The artist can build the piece and the piece can be made, however
the piece can not be built by itself; Therefore she had investigated forms of presentation and
distribution that defied traditional assumptions about the nature of the art object.
Ceal Floyer's "Monochrome Till Receipt, White" is an artwork that is "white" in more
than one way. The receipt is printed on white paper, and it is mounted on a white wall. In
what other way does the piece express "whiteness?" Is there another work from our course
materials that reveals a concept simultaneously through more than one communicative
channel?

Whiteness is also evident in shopping: Allison's flour, Philadelphia Kraft, portions of 'M' pollack,
organic chocolate (white, supposed), white beans, pickled eggs, Nivea shower ... and the list goes
on. 49 articles. All White

What is the difference between a design "element" and a design "principle?" Which of the
elements and principles are being manipulated in the works of Rosemarie Waldrop and
Francesca Capone?

We could call element a part of the whole design, something that forms or a component of the
design, while design principle refers to the main idea that motivated us to think about the design.

Concrete poetry were well underway, and this manner of visual treatment of text based materials
had already formed a contex-however the idea of subverting the role as a printer to take on that
of an artist, and with existing poetic material, strikes me as very ahead of its time. Both artists
played with the medium and the communicative channel of their works.
Do you have a photograph that is "too hard to keep?" If so, would you consider sending it
to Jason Lazarus in order to be a part of his archive? Why or why not? Or, do you
remember the first person that introduced you to Nirvana?

I usually always save all the pictures on my computer and an external hard drive. But it is rare in
the time I look for them and I start to see them. I think if he would give the photos of the Jason
Lazarus project too hard to maintain, given that I would like other people to know what he lived
and how my life had been in Galapagos over the years.
The first person who introduced Nirvana into my life was my uncle. He had a rock band with his
schoolmates and always rehearsed Nirvana music from other artists. It is thanks to him and this
music for which I am an amateur musician today, I believe and I play different songs. My
favorite albums are Nevermind, In Utero and Unplugged. I remember that my uncle asked me to
videotape the rehearsals with his band and that's when I got to like nirvana, rock and music in
general.

If you were to initiate an archive like Jason's Too Hard To Keep or Nirvana archives, what
would be your prompt?

I would gather photographs of families and convey the message that the greatest strength for the
people is the support of the family. The love you feel for your family can motivate you to go
forward and support your family to achieve the well-being of all.
