o Reading a map
o Understanding the location of the planets and the other items in space.
o Being able to tell the difference between the different planets, asteroids, and
comets.
This lesson is to help connect to previous lessons by expanding more of their knowledge
on not just the world we live in to other ones.

PROCEDURES AND TIMELINE:

Introduction: (5 minutes)
o For the start of the lesson the students will be required to participate in listening
and signing along with the two YouTube clips. They will then repeat the I Can
statement, I can identify all of the planets and understand the difference in comets
and asteroids.
Procedures: (40 minutes)
o TTW begin the lesson with a PowerPoint presentation with facts about each planet
and facts about them.
Closure: (15 minutes)
o TTW pass out a worksheet (exit ticket) with the map on it and will ask the students
to label the planets and other objects. After that I will allow the students to get into
groups to compare their answers.

ASSESSMENT EVIDENCE:
TSW use the exit ticket as a tool to show whether they fully understand or where they are
lacking in certain areas.

MODIFICATIONS:
In future lessons, a proper explanation will be accessible for an ESL.
I will also allow other worksheets with different explanations or even a color coordinated
example for ESL students.
