Students will then create a project compiling all of their observations, and the learning standards will
be addressed at this point in more detail. Students will be given three days to observe and collect
information before starting their project. After it has been completed pictures of their projects will be
posted on the blogs for parents to see, and they will be hung outside of the classroom.

Student Engagement/Level of Technology Implementation (LoTi): What LoTi would this lesson be and
Why?
LoTi 3 best describes this experience as this is a student-centered learning experience. Students are
creating a project that is meaningful where all of their observations are shown. LoTi 3 best describes
because students will be sharing their product with parents and other students.
Importance of technology:
The website-creation tool is critical to the project for how time efficient it makes the lesson. The blog
allows for parents and students to access the activity at home, and begin as soon as possible, without
having to wait to go to school. Without the technology, student work could not be shared with parents
online. Some students will also be using cameras to capture their evidence.

Internet Safety and Student Privacy: The direct link to the blog will be provided to the parents and
student. Parents will also be advised to supervise their childs internet use at home. Aside from pulling
up the blog, there is not many internet safety issues to be concerned about both from parents and
administrators.
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity. This activity is promoting more parent
involvement, and a new way of communicating to them. I hope this activity opens the door to more
technology-based lessons, and makes parents feel comfortable about the use of technology in
education. I also hope students go back to look at their classmates observations and learn through
their classsmates work.
