Reflective Essay
This 2017 Spring semester I took Mrs. Collins Composition 1 class. This class and

semester was really challenging and rough. There were some struggles, but Mrs. Collins made

sure I got help and understood. Now I am confident to move on to the next English course

Composition 2. This semester I learned peer editing,establishing credibility, and word choice

through essay 1 draft, essay 2 draft, the library orientation, power point slides on how to

establish credibility properly, essay 3 draft, and instructor feedback.

Peer editing was helpful and effective for me. Essay drafts 1,2 ,and 3 helped me learn

about peer editing and that it could be beneficial. It was a strategy that did not only help me, but

helped my peers as well. I learned how to take my peers comments in consideration and help to

edit my essays and make them better. Also, this helped me learn by doing the same for my peers

and Mrs. Collins comments were helpful by giving different options and word choices and

helped me learn with upgrading my essays.These assignments has helped me with the final drafts

of the essays and improving the assignments.

Learning about plagiarism and how to establish credibility properly was very useful and

beneficial. The library orientation really helped me do a lot a research and give me dependable

sources and citations. Essay 2 was a research essay and the library orientation came in handy in

this essay. This assignment taught me how to paraphrase, summarize, or reword research so it

would not flag as plagiarism. It also helped learn how to cite all my sources in MLA format on

the works cited page properly. The power point slides on blackboard helped me learn how to

establish credibility in the essay and in text properly. The slides also gave examples that help me

learn how to do it correctly. All these assignments have helped me learn and improve on

avoiding plagiarism.

Using better word choice is constructive. All three essay drafts helped me learn that word

choice can help and make an assignment a whole lot better. Instructor feedback or comments on

some assignments helped me learn ideas or choices on how to upgrade word diction. Also

instructor feedback helped me learn better and upgraded word choice for other assignments.

These assignments helped me learn and improve using better word diction for other assignmnets.

Everything that I have learned in this class this semester will help me in the future

whether it is in course or a career. It will help by applying what I know and using it for another

course. Peer editing, establishing credibility, word choice will help me in Composition 2 or any

another class for any assignment requiring these tools or strategies. Peer editing could help me in

a career when interacting with peers or editing on an assignment. Establishing credibility could

help me in a career or assignment when doing research. Word choice can really help in a career

when communicating with others or with an assignment.
