Our report is about if having long hair affects your GPA.

Our hypothesis is If

your hair is longer then your GPA will be higher. To determine and see if our hypothesis

is correct we collected data from 25 students at DAHS. We asked females their GPA and

took a ruler and measured the length of their hair in inches, The method that we used to

gather data is a sample survey since we took a portion of the population. The definition of

population is the entire group of individuals being studied. Our population was the

group of females that we selected to collect the lengths of hair and GPA scores from. The

definition of the term sample is a part of the term population from which we actually

collect data. Our sample is the selected 25 students that were used to collect data. For the

last term of the data set the definition for variables is any characteristic of an

individual. For our explanatory variable in this experiment is the lengths of the girls hair

in inches. Our response variable is the 25 GPAs.

Correlation describes the direction and strength of a straight-line relationship

between two quantitive variables. On our graph the correlation is negative because the
regression line is pointed downward. The strength of our graph would be weak because

the points are all scattered and not in a specific area of the plot. The definition of

Coefficient of Determination is the fraction or percent of the variation in the values of

y that is explained by the least-squares regression of y or x. Our percent is 12.8%.

The variation is not very good for prediction because of the points being spread out in the

scatter plot. The validity is also not good since the points arent close and the regression

is low. A lurking variable would be how much you study to effect how high your GPA is

and how healthy you are for how your hair grows. Our hypothesis for this project is if

you have longer hair then your GPA will be higher. Our hypothesis was proven incorrect

because of the correlation direction being negative and the strength being weak.
