Reflections on Observation Task 1: Differentiating
Centers

Read the questions below and write your answers

1. What are classroom learning centers?

- Numeracy
- Literacy
- Science
- Role-Play
- Circle time area

2. What is the purpose of classroom learning centers?

- Students will practice their ability in different areas epically the areas they
are weak in, and they will find interesting things that challenge them in
learning, which will develop their learning. Students also will have the
freedom to choose the centers/ areas they feel like they want to be in,
there will not be any pressure on them, for example if the students dont
want to color they have other areas to do or participate in.

3. What is the role of the students while engaged during learning centers?
- The students should listen to the directions carefully, then follow it
according to the steps given.
- When they start doing the tasks/ activity, they have to be independent
and try their best even when they face difficulties until the really dont
know how to do it, then ask the teacher for help.

4. What is the role of the teacher as the students are engaged during
learning centers?
- The teacher should guide the students and explain things clearly for
them, show them sample how to do the activity for more understanding
before they went to the areas.
- When the students start doing the activities, the teacher have to observe
them, help them when needed, and if they made a mistake the teacher
have to guide them.

5. Do you feel it is important to offer tasks that are developmentally

appropriate for all student ability levels? Why / Why not?
- Yes
- Each student have a different ability & different level of the way they
learn things , so if the teacher provide a different kinds of tasks and
activities for each level of the students, the students will be able to
understand more about the lesson, and will not find difficulties doing the
tasks, at the same time the tasks should not be too easy or very difficult,
it should be challenging to all students with different levels.
