Ernie Rambo talks about how the elective classes in schools are very important for not

only the students but also the teachers themselves. When elective teachers are teaching the

core class teachers have their planning period which is important for preparation for when the

class comes back. Collaborating elective and core classes would benefit the student

achievement in both classes. Electives classes are important because they reveal skill sets of

some students that arent obvious in their other classes. Elective classes helps students with

their strengths and taking opportunities outside of the classroom. This source is very

informational and gives real examples of the importance of how electives can help students with

skills and goals.

Classes." Rockford Register Star. Rockford Register Star, 13 June 2014. Web. 21 Mar.

Over working students is not the point of school, we need elective classes to give

students a break to learn things other than straight facts. Elementary school has recess, and

high school has elective classes to give students a break from core classes so they do not over

work themselves. Schools need these kind of classes to help students get refreshed to tackle

their regular classes for the day. Not only does it help students break away from core classes

but they teach them valuable skills for the adulting world. Students being able to feel a sense of

responsibility in the classroom helps them grow individually and create trust with their peers.

This article gives good points about how electives give valuable real life skills to students such

as trust and responsibility so they have it when they leave for college or the real world.

Elective Courses Help You Investigate Future Careers. Sterling Staff, 7 Sept. 2015. Web.

Electives do more good than taking a mental break or learning life skills, they can also

help students choose a possible career after high school. Taking a variety of classes can open

up how they feel about different skills and material learned in class. Elective classes can help

them discover new interests and skills they never knew they had, which can be beneficial for

their future career. The article gives examples of classes such as business can lead students to

want to be entrepreneur, design and engineering can lead to architecture, health classes can

lead to the medical field. Career options is important for students to understand and to pick one

that matches their personality and interests. This particular article is useful for examples of

classes that can help students pick a career and how these skills and interests are helpful for

future career options.
