Anestis, Michael D. and Joye C. Anestis. "Suicide Rates and State Laws Regulating Access and

Exposure to Handguns." American Journal of Public Health, vol. 105, no. 10, Oct. 2015, p. 2049.

EBSCOhost, doi:10.2105/AJPH.2015.302753.

In this article, the topic of discussion is suicide rates and how they coincide with state

handgun laws and regulations. This article tends to show how stricter gun laws may lower the

suicide rate and how firearms are the result of about 50% of all suicides. The article also states

that suicide rates are much higher within a week of the individual buying a handgun.

The article may be bias to more gun control laws but does show the correlation between

handgun ownership and suicides. Its facts that relate to stricter gun laws also support its claim

that they will lower suicide rates.

Yes I could use this article for my counter argument section of my essay.

This article discusses the history of the second amendment and its political history

throughout the entry. It discusses how for many generations, the second amendment argument

was negligible. As of now the debate is as undecided as it was when the Heller decision came

down. The author also hints towards gun advocates taking more action.
This paper is a very well written paper that is a tad bias to gun rights advocates but

presents powerful statements to back up his statements.

In this article I could use this information in my essay to help further my argument.

This article discusses the debate on how the second amendment should be viewed. In the

article a professor states how New Yorks SAFE gun act is not that all safe as it may seem. He

argues that this act unconstitutionally bans firearms that would undoubtedly pass the Heller court

decision.

This paper is a very well written non bias paper due to the fact that it presents both sides

of the argument to the reader and basically lets yourself decide who you agree with.

Yes I could use this entry in my essay to show how some gun control laws may infringe

on our second amendment right.

This article states how the second amendment is very important and is meant to protect an

individuals right to possess firearms. It also states that many crimes are committed with

illegal guns that are not bought in the US legally and are dealt on the black market. The

author argues that anybody wanting to ban assault rifles because they would lower the

crime and homicide rate are falsely informed due to the fact that less than 3% of all

homicides are committed with these weapons.

This article is a very good article that may be a little bias to gun rights but supports all their

claims with facts.

Overall yes, I could use this in my paper in how it shows how the second amendment should be

protected and how many of the views citizens have on guns could be disproven with the

facts and statements from this article.

Wilson, Harry L. "Libertarianism and Gun Control." Guns in American Society: An

In this article it displays how libertarians think and what their view on gun control is. In this

article it displays how most libertarians tend to be more for gun ownership than against.

As well as this they support personal freedom more than anything. When someone

commits a crime with a gun, Libertarians feel that the person should accept full
responsibility and should serve the maximum penalty. They also believe the federal

government or any government in fact should not have any say so in gun ownership laws.

This article is non bias as it states the views of gun control views of libertarians. It is a well-

organized paper that shows all the views that libertarians have especially on the matter of

gun control.

Although this article is very convincing and shows the views of a libertarian, I could not use this

in my paper as it displays a specific political culture.

"Second Amendment Committee (SAC)." Encyclopedia of Gun Control & Gun Rights, edited by

Grey House Publishing, 2011. Credo Reference,

http://search.credoreference.com/content/entry/greygun/second_amendment_committee_

sac/0. Accessed 06 Mar 2017.

This article is very bias to gun ownership and gun rights. They believe that people must protect

their right to keep and bear arms. The SAC committee is a more extreme view of gun

ownership and believes the government should have nothing to deal with gun ownership.

This committee also believes that advocates for heavy gun control have violated their

oath of office by not upholding the constitutions second amendment.

This is a very well written argument on how government should have no say in gun ownership

and gun rights. It is a very bias paper but is supported through their opinionated

statements.
This article can be used in my paper for the purpose of supporting my main argument throughout

the paper.
