AGH Hospital

Business Organization:
A-Great-Hospital (AGH) is a multi-specialty, tertiary care hospital extending quality health
care services to people in Thailand, for past 20 years. The AGH hospital is the essential part
of people lives in Thailand, providing the best medical facilities to patients who suffer from
various illness. The head branch of the AGH hospital is located at Silom Street in Bangkok
which is the central area of business workplace. Other three branches are located in Chiang-
Mai, Pattaya, and Samui.

Current Situation:
It is necessary for all branches of AGH hospitals to keep track of their day-to-day activities
and treatment records of their patients, doctors, nurses, and other staff personals. Keeping
track of all activities and records on paper is very cumbersome and error prone. It is
inefficient and time-consuming process observing the continuous increase in population and
number of people visiting the hospital. It is also not economically and technically feasible to
maintain patients records on paper.

Business Requirements:
Keeping the working of manual system as the regular basis is not ideal solution for hospital.
The three main systems of the AGH hospital should be concerned to manipulate the
systematic processes as follows:

1. Appointment: there are 3 main parts for making appointment:

a. Scheduling the appointment of patient with doctors, before admitting to the
system, patients have to make an appointment by making a phone call, or
walk-in to the front-desk.
b. Patient registration, when a patient is admitted, the front-desk staff checks to
verify patients records. If the patient is already registered with the hospital,
his Personal Health Number (PHN) is occurred in the system. Otherwise,
patient has to inform his personal information to the hospital and then he will
get the PHN from hospital.
c. Scheduling the services of specialized doctors and emergency properly so
that facilities provided by hospital are fully utilized in effective and efficient
manner.
2. Treatment
a. The treatment covers 2 groups of patients:
Outpatient treatment aims to manage all activities related to patient
who visits the Hospital Resident Doctor or Consultant Doctor for
medical consultations, diagnosis and treatment.
Inpatient treatment refers to the activities that patients must admit to
the system. Thus, the admission request will be made here. The
request for admission is made before patient will get the treatment by
the doctors.
b. The patients get the treatment by their personal doctor who will taking care
them along with all treatment processes. This means that each patient (both
inpatient and outpatient) has individual patients records. Once the patient
has been admitted to the system, he/she will be assigned the individual
doctor who will take care him/her during the treatment process.
c. The patients treatment details should be kept up to date and their records
should be kept in the system for historical purposes.
3. Payment
a. After getting the complete consultation, diagnosis, or treatment processes, the
patient has to pay the fee and all cost of services (e.g., consultation fee,
medical cost, or supplementary materials)
b. After the patients do the payment at the cashier, if the medical store issues
medicines to patients, it should reduce the stock status of the medical store
and vice-versa.
c. The inventory should be updated automatically whenever a transaction is
made.
