NAEYC Statement of Commitment

As an individual who works with young children, I, Alejandra Sanchez,

commit myself to furthering the values of early childhood education as they
are reflected in the ideals and principles of the NAEYC Code of Ethical
Conduct. To the best of my ability I will:
- Never harm children
- Ensure that programs for young children are based on current
knowledge and research of child development and early childhood
education
- Respect and support families in their task of nurturing children
- Respect colleagues in early childhood care and education and
support them in maintaining the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct
- Serve as an advocate for children, their families, and their teachers
in community and society
- Stay informed of and maintain high standards of professional
conduct
- Engage in an ongoing process of self-reflection, realizing that
personal characteristics, biases, and beliefs have an impact on
children and families
- Be open to new ideas and be willing to learn from the suggestions
of others
- Continue to learn, grow, and contribute as a professional
- Honor the ideals and principles of the NAEYC Code of Ethical
Conduct

Ethical Responsibilities to Children

I believe that I implement the ideals and principles of this section of the Code
of Conduct by respecting children. I provide a nurturing, welcoming, and
supportive environment that encourages self-expression and learning. I
create a safe place where children feel comfortable to share. I ensure that
the materials I provide are developmentally appropriate and encourage
learning. I continue to stay educated so that I can have the most recent and
effective information for working with children and making sure I am meeting
all needs. I provide meals for children and make sure they do not go hungry. I
ensure that every child is apricated and feels accepted in my classroom.

Ethical Responsibilities to Families

I believe I implement the ideals and principles of this section of the Code of
Conduct by aiding families in any way I can. I provide resources and support
in the areas that each family needs. I inform families of daily activities in the
classroom. I help organize monthly parent meetings where they are
encouraged to provide input on the classroom and what they would like to
see their children do. I encourage parents and families to come and be
involved without unit celebrations and contribute if they would like.

Ethical Responsibilities to Colleagues

Responsibilities to co-workers
I believe I implement the ideals and principles for this section of the
Code of Conduct by collaborating with my co-workers on where the
children are developmentally and what adjustments we can make to
our lessons to meet those needs. I support co-workers and help them
when I can to help make the classroom a better environment and help
them meet deadlines. I acknowledge my co-workers hard work in the
classroom and provide recognition when they achieve their
professional goals.

Responsibilities to employers
I believe I implement the ideals and principles for this section of the
Code of Conduct by creating lessons that help children meet their
goals, creating a supportive environment, supporting co-workers and
administration, collaborating with the community to provide the best
and highest quality program. I do my best to represent my program in
the best way by following all regulations and procedures unless I feel
that they are against my professional ethics and could be unlawful.

Responsibilities to employees
I believe I implement the ideals and principles for this section of the
Code of Conduct by helping to provide a safe and healthy work
environment. I clean and sanitize the classroom to kill bacteria that
could cause illness. I encourage other employees when discouraged
and offer my time to help them accomplish what they may doing.

Ethical Responsibilities to Community and Society

Individual
I believe I implement the ideals and principles for this section of the
Code of Conduct by providing the best high quality education and care
that I can to the children in my classroom. I help promote positive
community related services that can help in the education and
development of the induvial.

Collective
I believe I implement the ideals and principles for this section of the
Code of Conduct by working with other professionals and seeking their
advice when I get stuck on a situation and cant find a solution. I
advocate for early childhood education and express the benefit it
servers our young children. I promote knowledge of young children and
provide resources to spread the words on how we can encourage and
support children. I further my professional development by taking
classes on early childhood education and attend trainings on
regulations and assessing children.
