PATA

Founded in 1951, the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) is a not-for profit association that is
internationally acclaimed for acting as a catalyst for the responsible development of travel and
tourism to, from and within the Asia Pacific region. The Association provides aligned advocacy,
insightful research and innovative events to its member organisations, comprising 97 governments,
state and city tourism bodies, 27 international airlines, airports and cruise lines, 63 educational
institutions, and hundreds of travel industry companies in Asia Pacific and beyond.

Since 1951 PATA has led from the front as the leading voice and authority on travel and tourism in the
Asia Pacific region

In partnership with private and public sector members, PATA enhances the sustainable
growth, value and quality of travel and tourism to-from-and-within, the region.

The Association provides leadership and counsel on an individual and collective basis to its
member organisations, comprising 88 governments, state and city tourism bodies, nearly
22 international airlines, airports and cruise lines, 62 educational institutions, and hundreds of
travel industry companies in Asia Pacific and beyond.

PATAs Strategic Intelligence Centre (SIC) offers unrivalled data and insights including Asia
Pacific inbound and outbound statistics, analyses and forecasts as well as in-depth reports on
strategic tourism markets

PATAs events create millions of dollars of new business each year for its members

Thousands of travel professionals belong to 43 active PATA chapters worldwide and


participate in a wide range of PATA and industry events.

The PATA Foundation contributes to the sustainable and responsible development of travel
and tourism in Asia Pacific through the protection of the environment, the conservation of
heritage and support for education.

The PATA Foundations Objectives

To contribute to the conservation of the environment and cultural heritage of Asia Pacific, and

to encourage travel and tourism industry stakeholders to reinvest in Asia Pacific destinations

To help people in Asia Pacific countries acquire the tools they need to become better stewards

of their environment and cultural heritage, and to foster economic solutions to conservation

problems

To give PATA and the travel and tourism industry a stronger voice in the international debate

on environmental and cultural heritage conservation

To support educational initiatives that target travel and tourism stakeholders, including

residents of destination communities, visitors and industry employees, to make all parties aware

of their impact on cultural heritage and the environment.

Eligible Projects

Projects that are considered deserving of a PATA Foundation grant are those that seek to protect,
conserve and/or educate. They usually have one or more of the following objectives:

Protect the natural environment, including wildlife

Conserve cultural heritage, including arts and crafts, heritage sites and historic buildings

Educate people on the importance of environmental and cultural heritage.

Grant Size

Each grant is usually for amount up to $10,000.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicant must be from the Asia Pacific Region.

PATA Foundation does not make grants for planning, organisation, management, or conduct

of conferences, workshops or seminars except possibly, for the production of a report.

Applicants Project must be based upon above mentioned objectives to protect, conserve

and/or educate.

Any project seeking the foundations support must also have

A potential positive impact on tourism

Contribute to the betterment of lives and provide job creation in tourism for local

communities.

The support of their respective local PATA chapter and PATA divisional office

Financial support from the local PATA chapter or other sources.
