FX2
Fastener Coating System
The Problem: Chemical solutions that have been used to pressure treat wood for years have undergone a drastic overhaul. CCA
(Chromate Copper Arsenate) has been replaced by ACQ. While ACQ is more environmentally sound, it has been shown through
comparative testing to be very hostile against most standard metal fasteners. Thicker HDG coatings are not always the answer.
In fact, they can be detrimental to the function of the coated parts.
The Solution: Fastec offers a proprietary surface coating called FX2 that can withstand ACQ-treated lumber. FX2 is an
advanced technology, inorganic surface coating that is applied in a manner that eliminates hydrogen embrittlement, provides
greater tensile and torsional strength and limits breakage during assembly. Lab results consistently show that FX2 provides better
corrosion protection than HDG at a much lower cost than stainless steel.
